I too was impressed with that commercial. The first thoughts I had were, "Strong!"

I'm not crazy about gay marriage, but it certainly isn't and issue that is very high on my list.

What I do object to is activist judges making the decision. You want gay marriage? Get the law changed or convince enough people to vote for a proposition that allows it.

But why didn't they show another women at the other end? Why did they try and make it as if a regular couple just trying to get married with obstructions in the way?

Banning gay marriage is the law change here - not the other way around. Equal rights are not something ANYONE in this country should have to petition for.

Wrong again. The court stepped in and changed the law. That's the legislature's job, or can be done by the people in a ballot initiative.

Why run to the court every time. Do it the right way and fewer people will have a problem with it.

They ARE doing in the right way. One of the primary tenets of a democracy is to protect the rights of the minority from the will of the majority. The courts are there to ensure that those rights are upheld, even in the face of public opposition.

Since the government is making rights and benefits available to a certain segment of society, it must extend those rights and benefits to all members of society.

btw, since California has been allowing gay marriage for a while now, does anyone else feel like their marriage is less sacred? Anyone feel like marrying a dog yet, or having 2 wives????

....and there is the crux of the problem. Why is the gov't giving personal liberties out? Since when did that become THEIR right? At some point, the Constitution went from being about what gov't is allowed to do, to being about what you and I are allowed to do.
