Mishaps mark John McCain's record as naval aviator - Los Angeles Times
As one who is NOT voting for John McCain... I find this to be a complete non-issue and I was kind of disappointed in the Times for running this story on the front page.
I know that won't stop all the partisan rhetoric that's sure to follow... but I just wanted to demonstrate that some of us are capable of independent thought regarding politics and news reporting.
Now back to you regularly scheduled petty name calling and pointless analogies courtesy of the party wonks on both sides.

Agree with Doc. So he flies an airplane like most of us drives our cars not an issue. Obviously he never erred too much for the military to take away his wings.

I've heard that Obama has flown from LAX to La Guardia non-stop on Microsoft Flight Simulator. He'll be fine.
Quite honestly, I echo the good doctor's comments - I think this is a pretty big non issue, just as whomever Obama has met once in his left a decade ago, or the Keating 5 issue, or where Obama did and did not go to school, etc. IMO, this election HAS to be about the issues at hand.
I think a condition of getting to be President should be that he is not allowed near Air Force One's cockpit.
Seriously, I know flying a plane doesn't translate to not being able to run a country, but then again, being in a prisoner of war camp also does not qualify you as a president either. As a national hero and true American, of course. Arizona should have him honored with a day.

If John McCain believes his being a POW is a qualification for president, then being a suck-ass pilot thereby allowing yourself to be captured in the first place should be a disqualifier.
I don't believe either event qualifies or disqualifies him.

What's an Amreican? Sounds cool. Can I be one?
Also, I think if Harrison Ford were president, he should have access to Air Force One's cockpit. He'll handle things just fine.

By Navy standards even back then he would have had his wings clipped. The only reason he didn't was because his father and grand father were admirals. He has a long history of reckless behavior.
