Seriously, I know flying a plane doesn't translate to not being able to run a country, but then again, being in a prisoner of war camp also does not qualify you as a president either. As a national hero and true American, of course. Arizona should have him honored with a day.

McCain crashed 4 planes and was on the deck of the Forrestal. That's pretty damn impressive. Accounting for inflation and 1 1/2% compounding monthly interest, imagine how many month in Iraq we could stay extra if not for McCain's wasteful spending in the 60's splashing jets.

Seriously, in the late 50's and early 60's, our military jets were death traps, and nothing like the technology today. Most of those planes were a rocket engine jammed into the smallest airframe they could make work. There was no alarm saying "power - power" like today when your GPS realized you were too low. Don't make it sound simple. Most of us wouldn't have the balls to fly them.
