Warmongering creeps who get their panties in a bunch over
Welcome to America. Anyone can buy an ad in the NY times if they have the money. Eeek, I'm going to pay more attention to it than I would a car commercial? Just a handy way to distract a simple populace from the harsh realities of life.
Edit: I use the Kings to escape the harsh realities. Surprisingly... I haven't killed myself yet.
YEAH!!!! SAME THING FOR THE SWIFTBOAT GUYS RIGHT GO?!?!?! IT WAS ONLY AN AD!!!! WHAT'S THE PROBLEM!?!?!?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember Democrats in either the house or the Senate spending taxpayers time on the floor of their respective workplaces to craft legislation directed at forcing Republicans to take a stand on the Swiftboat guys.
Like I said . . . maybe they did, but I sure don't remember it.

I don't have time to check all the bills that were passed regarding it, but they sure did give a hard time to an ambassador during a confirmation hearing that Bush wanted to appoint because he gave money to them. Was that work done pro bono?
May I also say the intent is different in the two cases. One was to influence an election, the other was to influence current policy. Quite honestly, I don't care WHO gets called names, if it ends up saving the life of another American kid, then I'm for no holds barred.

Some could say that the Swift Boat guys were trying to save American lives too. I'M not saying that, but again, it's all about perspective and opinion. Each side will defend theirs to the end, it's just the way it always is.
Also, lets not pretend that Moveon.org isn't trying to influence elections.
"Petraeus is an ass-kissing little chicken****... I hate people like that.”
Now whoever said that should be condemned and considered a traitor, don't ya think?
There's a little difference between saying that about someone who (you believe) is trying to gain favor from a superior and saying he's killing kids because he's a lackey for an administration don't you think?
Well so I could have picked anyone of a number of the articles found, but here is this one. I won't say it is the the truth or final word, only that it has the same veracity as all of the others turned up in this search. I guess I just don't give the same credibility to an "unamed pentagon source as some do".
I will say this, from my experiance in the military...the notion of "keep the bull#$^t from the brass was always present, and I doubt if Fallon was pissed about anything on a very serious note that anyone beyond his close staff was privey to it. You can speculate all you want..

Here's the difference Smythe, one ad was right and one was wrong. Can you guess which?
Well, let's see...
The Swift Boat guys had facts and personal first hand knowledge
The MoveOn people are mostly angry leftist hippy wannabes backed by George Soros' money who love to cry about people questioning their patriotism and that they support the troops then go and run an ad that pretty much confirms' people's suspicions.
And no facts, just paranoia
they also dip in the same gene pool that believes 9/11 was an inside job, that Iraq is to help boost Halliburton profits, or for the purpose of obtaining oil. Logic and reason can pretty much discredit all those arguments.
All the criticisms in their "ad" (which by the way was obtained through a nice discount by the NY Times, and goes against the standards of ethics put forward by their advertising department) are MoveOn talking points meant to whip up their semi-retarded base (he's a stooge, a liar, no matter what he says stick your fingers in your ears and yell "la la la la la")
I mean if the character assassination were true, no one was voting against confirmation. They should go after their puppets in the Senate.

Wow, speaking of substantive differences. Here's the ad. Would you be so kind as to point out the part where you suggest it says anything remotely resembling your characterization.

What would he be betraying us with then? His promise to hand out larger candy bars at Halloween? The implication is that he is lying about his suggestions. If you see it as any other thing, you're being dishonest. Of course, if you can shoot me some information where he says he was going to suggest pulling everyone out of Iraq, I'd be willing to join the chorus.
