Another way of wording this is the tax cuts saved the American People from paying the government $2.11 trillion dollars.

I think the best way to word it is the tax cuts saved the wealthiest Americans from paying $2.11 trillion. The rest of us had to pay it then, now or later. I would like to suggest a book by David Cay Johnston titled "perfectly Legal" that would put much of this talk about taxes in perspective. It shows how the laws are rigged to provide tax benefits only for the wealthy and political donor class. There are a few chapters that will make your blood boil.
