Still amazes me on how a family can say this guy was turning his life around but yet he ran from the police, had two guns with him and shot at police officers.
Officer shot, parolee killed in Saturday night shootout Quote:
|
A fleeing parolee was killed and a Bakersfield police officer wounded during a shootout late Saturday night in the 900 block of Feliz Drive.

Also listen to the radio transmission of the shooting. When you hear "999" that is the code for officer needs help. The code "998" means shots fired. This transmission brings chills to me as a police officer and is something that you never want to hear while working:
Hear the police radio traffic from the February shooting that left an officer injured and gang leader dead
This is the police issued account of the event:
Police issued a narrative of the night of the shooting: Quote:
Both officers knew that Anderson was on parole and, as a condition of his parole, was not allowed to associate with other known gang members. Anderson did not live in the area and, based on the fact that other gang members were in the area, was in violation of the conditions of his parole.
Eddy and Cooley left their patrol car to arrest Anderson and he ran away. They chased him as he ran east on Feliz Drive and then south on Jastro Avenue.

This is the result the BPD internal investigation of the shooting:
Police: Officers cleared in February shooting Quote:
Anderson was one of the three highest-ranking members of the Eastside Crips in Bakersfield and had been arrested only a few months before the shooting.
“This could have been a nonevent, but Mr. Anderson, who was armed with two guns, chose to make it different,” Rector said.
Anderson’s family lashed out at police Tuesday and said they still want answers. Family members said Anderson Jr.’s death was unnecessary and called it an “execution.”

Time and time again the family of the suspect refuse to believe that the parolee had any responsibility in his own death.
Unbelievable.....
