I'm not looking to fight about it, near as I can tell, he won, so that's that.
BUT, the reason I'm asking is just curiosity. I know quite a few Republicans and I havn't been able to find anyone that says they voted for McCain. I enjoy finding out why different people voted for what they voted for. I find it interesting.
So if there's any McCainiacs out here, speak up, what was so apealing?
Quite honestly, I think people are going to support McCain for one simple fact - he's the only one that stands a chance nationally out of the group. Huckabee might be a great conservative icon, but he'd get slaughtered in a national campaign. Romney and his magic underwear? Not a chance, either. McCain has the appeal for moderates/undecided voters, which we all know can lead to big things nationally.

Yep. This is still all confusing to me. I just don't understand why the party won't back the guy. Non-support of the tax cuts? His stance on immigration? I don't get it. There are some far right imbeciles out there that would rather have Hillary than McCain. Why? This is just as idiotic as all this hate toward Hillary. I've said it before the party I joined in 79 is in no way shape or form the same today. It's time to dump all the neo-clowns and evangelicals....maybe they can all go start a new party....please?

I will be voting for McCain in the general election, no doubt about it. I will be holding my nose on one or two issues where I disagree with him, but he is still a better choice than either of the other two Democrats that are left in the race.

Affordable healthcare for those who can't afford it...
Alternative energy sources so we don't drown in the ocean...
An end to our utter dependence on oil...
An end to our imperial ambitions in the Middle East...
Mending the schism in the U.S....
Leadership that knows how to speak English (or any language)...
An educational system that actually rewards teachers for doing their jobs...
An end to a certain RECESSION and the fun amount of money we've been spending to bomb deserts...
ETCETERA ETCETERA
At this point I don't seen any politician on either side of the asile making any sweeping chances. Healthcare was a Hillary issues when Bill was banging interns, she done nothing to accomplish that goal yet.
I love the dreaming I have just lost completete faith in "the system" the only thing anyone of these guys care about is getting elected, they will promise the moon to do it.
We will have the same discussion in 4 or 8 years about Healthcare, the economy, taxes etc etc........

Sad, but true.

They will always be relevant issues. Of course TB's listing is ambitious--hell, if only a few of those get started on it'll still be an improvement on the current administration.
I voted for him since I did not like Huckabee or Romney. Feel McCain can help us with our strategies in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I usually like your posts Mitchrock, but what strategy is that exactly? 100 more years of illegal occupation to protect Israel and keep the oil flowing for big business? C'mon! Wake up people!!
What could we expect of a John McCain presidency?
1. John McCain supports unending war in Iraq while he refuses to secure our borders. He makes a mockery of the war on terror when he allows a war on his own citizens inside their own country.
2. He supports amnesty for 20 to 30 million illegal aliens. He supports illegals in the Dream Act. He supports making them citizens which will allow them to vote us out of our own country.
3. McCain supports H-1B, H-2B and L-1 visas that have displaced 3.1 million American jobs. He will steal more American jobs via more visas.
4. McCain supports the military-industrial complex's plans for more wars in the future to support the 700 bases and 572,000 military personnel around the world that costs U.S. taxpayers untold billions of dollars with virtually no return in the form of safety.
5. He never speaks about energy conservation or any new ideas for alternative energy.
Why is it that people feel that they have to vote for the least worst person instead of voting for the person that will do the best job?! What a sad state of affairs for our nation.

You said it.
Unfortunately, I don't think any of the people left in the race will do what this country needs done.

I voted for Romney. As he droped out I respected him even more. I will vote McCain this November, but I will pray that a real conservative comes so I can help primary McCain out in 2012. In fact, I hope its Romney. (The way he left really left a good impression on me. For a while I wondered about him, I no longer do)
