The real purpose of The Second Amendment is to secure a free state.

I'm just wondering if it bugs anyone that this is the third recent decision that had a 5 to 4 vote. I thought Roberts was going to try to put an end to that.

Even today's decision on the Exxon Valdez punitive damages was overturned. It was also close at 4-4. If Alito didn't have to recuse himself (he owns the stock) it would have eliminated the damages Exxon would have to pay altogether...as it is it was just severely cut back.

But this isn't how the Court interpreted the Constitution. The legal question before the court became is gun ownership a individual right or a group right. The decided the former.

This is why I think the ruling is wrong. It doesn't say, "in order that citizens should defend themselves". Even if it had, it would have meant bears or moose or something.
