About This Page: This is a discussion on News within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Emilio!!!
Thank you CARLA. Another great post, actually both of them.
Welcome to LGK NEMMY700. Have you checked out the link DODGERBLIOUX posted? II love to watch all hockey, especially if it is a good game. Even a ducks game if that is what is on. But my allegiance is to the LOS ANGELES KINGS.... I am going to give you a couple of definitions to some key words that describe the type of person who posts on this website. As found on all words .com
1>Allegiance: Loyalty, loyalty to some cause, nation or ruler.
2>Fanatic: A person who is zealously enthusiastic for some cause.
Most of the people around here are very loyal and fanatical about KINGS hockey. There are a few pretenders out there.
Our allegiance is to the KINGS. Our fanatacism is to KINGS hockey. Our cause is to bring LORD STANLEY'S CUP to the only SO. CAL hockey team that matters. THE LOS ANGELES KINGS.
The people around here are like a family. The posts from the kings fans around are very passionate. No matter if I agree or disagree with what is being said, they are speaking from the passion that flows from their heart, which is LOS ANGELES KINGS hockey. I therefore take offense to anyone who doesn't have that same passion, posting your vomit in reply to anyones opinion on LET'S GO KINGS.COM. If you wish to defend the quacks, please do so on their website. As for all of us around here it's always OPEN SEASON ON THE DUCKS and anyone who cheers for them.
Just my opinion though.

Reason: spelling
i grew up in BC where everybody and their pet dog is a Canuck fan, i loathed the Nucks for as long as i can remember, but something happend a few years back and i finally stopped hating them. i just said ***** it, i'm a hockey fan, i can watch the game and just enjoy it for no other point than just to watch the game. Now i've also been a kings fan for over 20years and for some reason i just can give up on them. i dont know why but when the kings win a game, i feel great. and when they lose i get pissed off.
its possible to be a fan of more than one team, i like the Caps right now, the Canucks and even the dreaded Montreal Canadiens. But no matter what, nothing gives me the feeling of watch a kings game and seeing them slaughter the other team, i guess i like the underdogs.
kings, ducks... no
Kings. you know it, you can feel it.
doesnt matter what team they are playing i ALWAYS root for the kings...
its kings like having a wife, you love her to death... sure you like the other ones you could have had and you remember the good things about the girls you had before your wife.... but they just dont feel the same as the old wifey.
Carla, I totally understand where you're coming from with this post! There have been many times when I've had to explain to people why I route for the Kings and how they will soon be a powerhouse t contend with. When that day comes, we can all sit back and laugh at them!
And Nemmy, I'm sure you've noticed by my name that my loyalties lie elsewhere, and I have to agree with those that say if you are to like two teams, then you definitely have to favor one at some point. I love going to games and routing for the Kings, but as soon as the Men in teal roll into town, my true colorss shine through
I love going to games and routing for the Kings, but as soon as the Men in teal roll into town, my true colorss shine through
... then you will understand that on those games when the teal men show up, well.... we Kings' fans, okay me, will have to hate you... (Does it count that this will be a six game hate only unless the teams meet in the play-offs and then... all bets are off.)
I call BS. You are a Ducks fan. Period. You may have liked the Kings...but you clearly jumped on the Duck Bandwagon. You are a bandwagon fan. Which there is nothing wrong with that. As long as you support your team during the down times. Such as us Kings fans. Up until recently, the Ducks couldn't sell out a building unless they played the Kings or Redwings. Even their Cup season. Kings fans ruled the Pond. Now...well the bandwagon has a handicapped parking space right in front of the pond.
But the Ducks to their credit won the cup before us. Ok...it's a hard one to take. The Cup seems tainted now.

Your client here. Yes, I'd have to guess that my reply could be viewed as inevitable as your posting about our conversation in the first place. You got a lot right in your recollection but I thought I'd take a moment to clarify some of the points. In all fairness, you weren't exactly taking notes during the conversation!

Not exactly. My ears perked up when I heard you talking to one of my colleagues about "quackers". Now given the fact the Olympics were on the various TV's perched about the restaurant, I thought to myself what a quacker could have to do with the Oympics. Then I heard "Kings" and I figured it out. From there, I don't recall if you mentioned your blog or if you were outted by someone else. Either way, I think you are doing a pretty cool thing.

Less than impressive? Clearly struck a nerve, eh? Then again, I was less impressed with the term "quackers".

No, I only keyed in on two things here, we have actually won a Stanley Cup and will always be the first California team to win, no matter what the Kings might do in the future. That can never be taken away from us. I can give a hoot that we now sell out all of our games and whether we always beat the Kings. Ducks/Kings games are usually tremendous matchups and can be painful to watch in person if you are on the losing end. I've been to too many of those to say we always win. Then again, it was fun last season to attend a couple Ducks/Kings games at Staples Center and hearing all of the "Ducks (inhale)" chants and ridiculous first-grader-like rearranging of our star player's names as we were winning the games. I'll take that any day when we're the team who is inscribed on the most sacred trophy in all of sports. And blah, blah, blah? I don't remember saying that but I'll give that one to you.

Regardless of whether this proves to be a one-time victory, I'll take it. I feel better having been there than still dreaming that someday it MIGHT happen for my team. It has happened and the feeling was tremendous. And although you might be right about Burke, I'm the last person who will lose a wink of sleep over it. What will be will be.

If the organization stays the course then many great springs are possible in Los Angeles.
And my response was: OK, if that makes you feel better.

Quackers’ fans better hold dear that victory as I foresee them having a future closer to Tampa Bay than Detroit, New Jersey or Colorado. Why? Burke is a win for today GM. Anaheim’s cap problems due to his nonsensical signings (Bertuzzi, Schneider) combined with his short-sightedness will only get worse and soon. Moen, Pahlsson … where are the cap dollars for their next deals? Clue… nowhere.
True, expectations do change. It's refreshing to expect to win, not just hope to win and squeek into the playoffs like it was back in the 90's. We had a Cup finals game 7 heartbreak of our own in 2003 but I'll take our play over the last three years any day of the week.
Criticize Burke all you want, win for today, whatever, but he has in fact WON. And while some may question the Bertuzzi and Schneider signings, they were done because he was hedging as he tried to take the high road in allowing Selanne and Niedermayer the luxary of contemplating their futures well into the regular season. Everyone knows how that turned out and hopefully the NHL will come up with some sort of rule to prevent such a thing from happening again in the future. Bottom line, we haven't made stupid trade deadline deals by trading active NHL'ers or assets from our farm system. With or without Burke, I'm less worried about the future of the Ducks than I'd be if I were a fan of what someone calls the only Southern California hockey team that matters.

Fans have every right to be passionate about their teams. I respect the passion exhibited by you and the other Kings fans on this site (even though I was called a d-bag by one). I won't go so far as to say I'm a fan of both teams, I got over that long ago. But when the Kings are not playing the Ducks, I have no problem rooting for them. Why? Because nothing would make this rivalry better than to meet in the playoffs. Name the round, it doesn't matter, everything will be on the line. Then the real war of the words can begin!
