Rob Blake is coming home to the Los Angeles Kings. The former Kings captain is returning to his first NHL team (and his hometown) after signing a two-year, $12 million deal with the Kings on Saturday.
''Rob Blake is a special player and more importantly a special person,'' said Kings GM Dean Lombardi. ''He belongs in a Kings uniform. He represents everything we want this franchise to stand for now and in the future.''
WELCOME BACK, BLAKEY!!
In 81 games with the Avalanche last season, he had 14 goals and 51 assists.
Blake - Matty
Miller - Gleason
Visno - Sopel
Weaver
Will miss Corvo, but Joe wasn't really known for his D and the power play sucked with him. With Blake back we now have someone who can shoot from the point. Blake and Visnovsky on the points for the powerplay is a nice pair.
Wow, this is impressive. Nice move Dean! Welcome back Rob! We're looking forward to seeing you back in a Kings jersey with some thunderous hip checks and booming point slap shots from the point!
Solid pick up....But I would rather have Chara. I wonder if the Kings made a push for him, failed and went for Plan "B" getting Blake back...But it is a solid move..The move will improve the special teams 100%.
Hope this isnt the last of the free agent signings of big name guys.
He said that deal was going to go down, and that the team also was making a pretty big push for ELias as well. 1 out of 2 ain't bad and the team, before the Blake signing, was close to 20 million under the cap. More signings to come(After the Pronger signing we have no choice....please Dean!!!)
And f all you who have been booing him for the last couple years. Stand up guy, will go down as one of the Best Kings ever.
what's all this "welcome back Blakey" crap? He wanted out of LA. That is why we "BOOOO" him when he touches the puck. I'm still gonna "BOOOO" him when he touches the puck. He is old. That's exactly what we need. I thought we were looking for young prospects. I hate Blake. Trade him for a bag of pucks and an 8 dollar beer at staples.
Screw Blake and screw the new management for making this deal. It was his decision to leave L.A. Now that he's getting old he wants to come back and make nice, "F" him. I certainly won't be cheering for him when he returns. I might even throw a few boo's out there, just to remind him that he's still a punk.
