'Rinkside View' for Selected Kings Games

During the 2008-09 NHL season, Fox Sports WEST and PRIME TICKET will provide a “Rinkside View” presentation of several Kings game telecasts. The “Rinkside View” game format combines the best of traditional hockey television expertise with more ice access thanks to low angle camera positions and a voyeuristic, as-if-you-were-there look and feel to the telecast. A total of 20 NHL games, including all six “Freeway Faceoff” contests with the Ducks, will be seen by the “Rinkside View”.

“We are revolutionizing hockey on television with ‘Rinkside View’. The low camera angles and evolved camera direction will allow the viewers to hear more crunch, watch more of the ice, and - instead of being told how the play develops – see the play unfold for themselves,” said Tom Feuer, executive producer, Fox Sports WEST and PRIME TICKET.

The "rinkside" view was horrible. It was like the veiw if you were a child in a bad seat and didn't know where the puck was. maybe it was good idea executed badly.

Give Detroit fans only the rink side view and see how they like it. No? (I didn't think so!)

On second though, PLEASE DON'T!! I plan on watching it on FSN Detroit in HD. (Sorry, Kings sponsors. Are you listening?)

I think they are making a big mistake. Last night, IMO, was a total flop.

Some of the views were good...for about 30 seconds. Problem is they stayed on them far too long. Show me the game from above and some snipits/replays from the different angles. Moderation here is the key, not one way or another.

Oh boy, so not only do we only get 10/82 games in HD, they are going to put that crappy view on it the whole time? This rinkside view should only be used very sparingly for certain angles and replays.

I can hardly wait. I hope I have the tickets to tose games so I don't have to watch that torture again. Must be the only HD cameras they can get for the games...
