Patrick O'Sullivan has signed for 3 years after a lengthy negotiation the kept him out of the entire preseason and training camp. According to Rich Hammond of the LA Daily News, "O'Sullivan will get $2.925 million over each of the next three seasons. The contract is front-loaded a bit and brings the Kings up to their $40-million cash budget. The contract takes O'Sullivan through the 2010-11 season and he would be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2012."

O'Sullivan Signs With Kings
Center inks three-year contract
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have re-signed restricted free agent center Patrick O'Sullivan to a three-year contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.
O'Sullivan, 23, notched 53 points (22-31=53) and 36 penalty minutes in 82 games for the Kings last season. His 53 points, 22 goals and 31 assists all ranked fourth on the team, while he tied for the club lead (with Michal Handzus) with three short-handed goals. O'Sullivan, who was selected as the Kings Best Defensive Player in 2007-08, also tied for the club lead (with Dustin Brown) with four shootout goals, three of which were game-winners. In addition, he had nine multi-point games last season, including a career-high five-point game Feb. 21 vs. St. Louis (1-4=5). O'Sullivan was one of four Kings to play in all 82 games last season (Handzus, Anze Kopitar and Lubomir Visnovsky were the others).
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Winston Salem, N.C., began his NHL career in 2006-07. In 44 games with the Kings that season he had 19 points (5-14=19) and 14 penalty minutes. In addition, he had 39 points (18-21=39) and 12 penalty minutes in 41 regular season games and 17 points (8-9=17) and 10 penalty minutes in 16 postseason games with the Monarchs. His 17 playoff points led the Monarchs and ranked sixth overall in the AHL. He also led Manchester in the playoffs with eight goals, nine assists and three power-play goals.
O'Sullivan was originally drafted by Minnesota in the second round (56th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Kings from the Wild along with Minnesota's first-round selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft (Trevor Lewis) in exchange for Pavol Demitra on June 24, 2006.
O'Sullivan is expected to practice with the Kings tomorrow, Wednesday, at 10 a.m. (PST) at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. The Kings travel to San Jose on Friday afternoon to open their 2008-09 regular season schedule on Saturday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FS West, KTLK 1150 AM and along the Kings Radio Network.
has signed a three-year deal with the Los Angeles Kings.
Sources say it is worth an average of $2.925 million per year but will pay him $4 million in the upcoming season.

Not expensive, but a fair contract. As with all Kings fans, glad he's under contract and looking for big things from him. I think he will perform well and eventually get the big contract he's looking for.
I was one of the guys talking about trading him, but when I heard the news I was like **** yes! Glad to have back. I hope we sign Jack and Anze to much longer deals. I would give them both 10 year 45 million contracts.

you think we can keep jack and anze happy with 4.5 a year? i hope your right but in truth i think your a bit low.
frolov, brown, kopitar, Osullivan, and johnson might take more than 5+ each when thier contract are up. and could ask for more depending on the market and who out there and who can we replace them with. I know theyre young right now and LA is out of the spot light but keep in mind what Ovie got(around 9 i think), kopi will get something similar. The rest should follow suit.
back to the Point. WELCOME BACK you POS. WE LOVE YA again

Kopitar will definitely get over 4.5. Johnson would have to have an ENORMOUS season to get to 4.5. He's nowhere near there, yet.

i agree with you but i guess i missed a detail here and there...when thier contracts come up and i think JMFJ has 2 more seasons? not sure and im too lazy to find out for sure. The idea being the guys i listed before are "the go to" guys. once they prove that, 4.5 a year might be considered a great deal in the same way browns 2.5(estemate) a year is now. Johnson is being pushed to the forfront on the defensive group. If the Kings do well this year, JMFJ will get a portion of the credit.
i.e. low
Any idea what Modano made in his prime- Im not calling an apple an orange but i see Kopitar is similar to Modano

Their ELCs are both up after this season. I agree that in a few years, 4.5 should be a bargain for Johnson, but I think Kopitar has already surpassed that number (see Getzlaf, Perry, and Richards' contracts).
Thanks for the feedback on my salary number for Jack and Anze. I probably am too low on Anze's contract, especially if he has the year we all hope he is going to. This is a completely different subject than Sully-I always do that-I hate myself.

damn....a good player makes a sh_t load today...if im a player i keep the CBA the way it is. id perma-paque it and surround it by lazers, hired goons, lawyers and TNT
wow...Richards makes almost 8m a year. Id say Kopi is worth it but with Dean he'll be offered about 6. i can see 9 years at 6 or 7 per i wonder how dean will portion it out for the CBA.
JMFJ....sorry bro youll need to be our MVP and a finalist for the 'lindstrom'(sp?) trophy to get above 4

Yea, in the old CBA, it seemed like players either made a TON or not that much. It also took younger players a while to get those big contracts.
Now, it seems like there are a lot of players who are being paid big bucks.
