Marc Crawford Fired

Kings president and general manager Dean Lombardi made the announcement Tuesday that Crawford will not return next season as the team's head coach despite having one year left on his contract.

"We appreciate Marc's commitment the two seasons he has been here," Lombardi said in a press release. "However, we believe that in evaluating where we are at and, more importantly, where we are going as an organization, we feel this coaching change was the right decision to make. We wish Marc the best in his future endeavors."

A few months ago, shortly after joining, I could see that Crawford was lost here. In way too many games, he had the "crawfish in the boiling water stare." I'm tired of seeing players supposedly not good enough for LA make it big elsewhere--but even more of a coach who can't lead his team nor at least extol an organized 60-min effort from his players.

Please Mr Lombardi, take a good look at coach Steve Martinson, currently with ELCH's Elmira Jackals. Martinson gave San Diego a winning team in the Gulls each season. Martinson has exactly what LA needs. A resourceful & demanding coach who can take whatever's in the locker room & make a good defensive team that has an offensive wild hair nobody takes for granted. And Martinson can help find good players (good for community too) who can also win fights when needed for the team.
