Luc Robitaille will announce his imminent retirement from the NHL at a press conference Tuesday at noon. The Stanley Cup champion, highest scoring NHL left winger of all time and top goal-scoring LA King will hang up the skates for the last time after the Kings final game of this season.
It is sad Luc Leave LA without a cup but at least able to get one in Detroit. It is also togh to see him leave under these conditons but he gave us some great years and wonderful memories and will be missed. Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc you will be missed
LLLLLLUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!. you are the man. thank you for giving so much to our organization, fans and community. you will be greatly missed. hopefully one day soon someone else can say "We're in the damn finals!!!"
It's sad to see Luc retiring, but I think he must know it's the right time to do so. He's certainly proven plenty of people wrong after being drafted in the ninth round in 1984.
I do have to comment on the Kings sorry ownership group. The hockey club is not a real estate investment or passive tax deduction against other AEG income. Start treating it the right way, or do everyone a big favor and sell it to someone who is committed to winning!
This has certainly turned out to be a really sad season. First, a quality coach named Andy Murray got sacked a few weeks ago. Now Luc is retiring tomorrow. The face of the franchise, Dave Taylor, will most likely be canned next week. I really doubt that Dave really wanted to trade Rob Blake, Phillipe Boucher & Mathieu Schneider, just to name a few players that management refrained from re-signing.
Mr. Lieweke, take a good hard look in the mirror. You do seem to have passion and care about the team. I think a major shake-up is due for the entire franchise. Perhaps you can pursuade Mr. Anschutz to sell you the Kings and then run it the right way in building a true Stanley Cup Contender. We devoted Fans in L.A. have certainly waited a very long time for this.
Thanks for all the good times and memories. You will be missed.
Let's all hope the Kings will be able to find the next "Luc Robitaille" as this organization is in need of someone who can fill his skates on and off the ice.
Thank you for the years of sweat and blood you left out on the ice. I can say without a doubt that you made me a Kings Fan for life. You made Los Angeles so very special and we are glad you will stay and live amongst us. You taught me what it is to bleed purple and I know that you are the most die hard King to ever play the game.
What a sad day it is in Los Angeles. Aside from another quality player leaving the team, after being treated like crap this year, we are losing a class act who has given Los Angeles so much over the year. The only saving grace is that Luc is retiring as a King, something he had been quoted as saying numerous times.
If Luc does read this, you have to know you will be missed and the fans are pissed at the way you have been treated this year!
Now comes some real soul searching by the AEG ownership of our hometown team. It's time, time to take a look around and realize what you are doing to the team and to it's life long fans. As an 18 year season ticket holder, I have never come off a year (whether winning or losing) contemplating letting my seats go. A dismal year, with dismal results, with dismal movement on talent, with dismal treament of one of the greatest players Los Angeles has ever seen. Wake up and smell the coffee, you might be losing quite a few season ticket holders if something doesn't change!
Tomorrow will be a sad day in LA for sure. I was a Kings fan when Luc first started playing for the Kings, and I'm still a fan now that his career is coming to an end. I cried both times he left, and I cried both times he came back. Luc was the last rookie that I went nuts over until this year....what are the odds it's the same year he's retiring.
Anyhow, thanks for the memories Luc.....it just won't be the same without you.
Luc, you are a living legend of the Kings organization. I wish that your name on the cup read "Los Angeles Kings" above it. But I am satisfied none the less that you name is on it.
You are a gentleman off of the ice and a fierce competitor on it. You have skated with legends on the ice that your name became synonymous with.
You are always spectacular to the fans and I know that it is with a heavy heart that you must do this.
I will tell my children when they grow up that I got to watch Luc play and got to hear 18,118 people yell LLLLLUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!! in unison.
I had the pleasure of meeting Luc on a couple of occasions. He is by far a class act. Thanks Luc, I am gonna have a hard time watching games without having him on the team. He is the King of the Kings. He will be missed.
Luc thank you for all the memories.I hated it when you were traded and cried when you signed with Detriot but also rejoiced when your name was added to the Cup. Luc you will always be number 1.I hope you enjoy retirement as much as you enjoyed playing. Many of us fans have been upset with the way this team has been run this year but we are still here game after game year after year and you are a big part of it. Thanks
