You are definitely correct about many an athlete today. Thankfully of the four major sports, hockey seems (in fairness, I am biased) to have the least paycheck players of the four. ....as to Ovechkin, I have read more stuff about him wanting to know the Caps will build a team, then him wanting to leave for more $$$ elsewhere.
The head spinning part I am learning as I go, no doubt.... *sigh*

everytime i come to the site i know i am among true Kings fans.
fans that are compassionate about their team and angry that our team isnt playing to their full potential.
all we can do is show our support for the Kings for better or for worse and we need to stand side by side to root them on. GO KINGS GO
Yeah last nights game was bad and sucked getting blown out by the preds. But I still I will be at the at tomorrows game cheering for the Kings. I am a season seat holder and win or lose I will be there to support the Kings. I do believe Kings fans are better than the anaheim sucks and when they missed the playoffs this year the honda center will be like a ghost town next year. go coyotes. It would be sweet if they knocked the duckes out of the playoffs

I actually find it kind of funny when people discuss me in PUBLIC threads and then are surprised when I respond. When you asked a question in THIS thread with THAT response, I came to the reasonable and forseeable conclusion you raised an issue that invited a response, but not from ME. What am I missing?

Also, you say you write these posts to incite dialogue. Okay, so we're 'dialogueing' here. When we have an opinion that DOESN'T agree with something you wrote, you come back with the most asinine comments. And you harp on the heart thing. Let it go. You sound like the rest of the people on here. I wouldn't mind the dialogue with you if you had something to say. You say everything in your original post and leave it here for us to disect and discuss.
You know, I'm frustrated after the game last night too. But every team is going to have a game like this. Maybe not to the magnitude the Kings faced last night, or the frequency either, but it happens. And no rebuild happens overnight. I get frustrated. I slam my fists on the couch and I almost threw something last night. But you know what? Its just a game. I have no control over it. Writing satirical articles supposedly from the team itself, that won't make me feel any better. We're 1.5 seasons into a rebuild. A rebuild with new people rebuilding. No one said the Cup would be presented to the team this year. No one. No one ever said we'd be a contender for said Cup at this point in the game either. So, everyone needs to get frustrated, drink a lot, swear a lot - do whatever it takes to get their frustration out. Then sit back and watch the young'uns play. Watch them develop into the core they are supposed to be for this contender.
All I'm saying is that your blog posts aren't the reason a player has a better game after you call them out on it. Your posts don't really inspire any more dialogue than what is already here. And everyone keeps harping on this heart thing.
Get over it. There are some major holes in this organization right now.
Bigger holes than heart.
And unless you have some special insight or are a fly on the wall in the locker room, you know the same amount we all know about this team - what we see on paper and on the ice.

I am not trying to shoot the messenger per say - but what your doing by stating the obvious is no better than Crawford's so called comic relief on the bench, as he demoralizes his team more,,, and your right, it took you no more effort than the Kings gave last night, are you really proud of that, you usually come off far more articulate than that. Is that wrong of me 2 say ? What I want out of you , Kings management, players and fans is to STOP making excuses, and I'd like to see the team members really see what they are truly worth. And I am glad your job pays you for your time, but maybe you should realize that true fans dont need to get paid to give an observation,, that just giving a f ___ about your team, and having heart for you team. If you can't see that there is no coaching leadership in this organization, then continue to drag down the team, like i said before Anaheim has room for fans like that. I would rather put the time I am NOT GETTING PAID FOR (thanks), nor do I need to be, in believing in my team win or loose, and that off the ice they will make the proper coaching adjustments they need to, and if I am coming off real offensive I apologize, but if your a fan act like 1, you think I am not upset, frustrated, you think some of my blog doesnt come from the heart as well, it all does, I've been with the Kings along time, and being a KINGZ FAN MEANS LOYALTY. I think your passion is amazing, truly. The fact that we are all here and are so zealous when we either support or condemn this team is proof of how much we care. A majority of the time I do my best to write about the team, the game and provide some context and hopefully insight to what the team is doing right/wrong and create dialogue in as respectful a way as possible. This blog alone and the debate it sparked is all I am looking for -- with the exception of more respect.
I get the latter is a want and no one is required to provide it in return. To that end, I hope that if I treat others with respect it might inspire that back in return.
I solely took issue with "expectations" of what I am "required" to provide. The only place that is entitled to ask that of me is my employer. Hockey and blogging on the Kings is a passion -- not my current vocation.

I agree with alot of what u said, I think alot of us are speaking out of anger, and your right too, we kinda do need to get over it. With time we will, and we can all agree that what the team needs is action, but i respect you putting it in 2 perspective a great deal, however I did break some shyt yesterday I needed too, u cant tell me that wasnt one of the most frustrating losses EVER... it was,
but one thing u are incorrect about, the heart thing, u show me a team that won a Stanley Cup that didnt have alot of heart, its Morale moreover, and wihtout that we have jack ***** to build on, and it s obvious, its all over the players faces. Signs of Locker Room Hell. Heart-Drive and Perseverance is what Champions are made of and it's players remembered for.

I agree I think we are all just up 2 here, and it's hard to know how to feel after a season and a half of this, but yeah your right, especially for a team with players we come to know and believe in, even if we cant make the playoffs this year, we could certainly finish much cleaner than we are , we certainly do have fans that avidly support our team, boy if our players could have played with as much heart have put into this debate, hell maybe we could have scored one goal last night, but in a losing season and cause and loss like this hurts bad, you dont get used to it. I hope the Kings know inside that they have some fans that really bleed black and purple win or loose. If i could will the remedy for the team I would, but the players must find that themselves as Daryl Evans told me last night.

To get this heart that everyone keeps bringing up, they need to play like a team. No Royal Race or anything else is going to create team. A good team bonds, they find ways to do it. They may not like each other outside of the rink, but on it, you have to work as a team. I'm not saying that if someone takes out Kopitar, Brown needs to give him some bone crushing check into the boards later in the game. Communication is the biggest thing they lack right now. Notice how there are no tape to tape passes? A player doesn't know where his linemates are half the time? And for a while, they suffered from multiple Too Many Men penalties. Communication is key.
Jason needs to tell them to stay the hell out of his crease. D-men need to stay in position and play the man. If they beat you, let the goaltender make the last save. Forwards - their job is to score. Notice we don't lack in scoring this year. Okay, the occasional game we do lack it, but its a heck of a lot better than last year.
Modry - you know, he may be getting the job done most nights, but his comments last season still sit with me. He DID NOT want to come back to LA. He was surprised when the trade took place. So, do you think anythings changed? My 'opinion' of Modry is, he doesn't want to be here, therefore he lacks team-manship. How many other players are/feel the same way? Handzus? Nagy? Calder?
Sure, we have lines that really click. I love that. And they are the reasons I keep going to games. And the youngsters.
When DL can get some guys in here that want to make a commitment to the team, you'll find more heart. If Blake wants to go, let him go. Frolov - well someone needs to light a permanent fire under his ass. I'm so tired of seeing his talent wasted.

Dont thank me, thank the Cogniack, lolol mm but it's true, my ice hockey coach used to beat stuff like this into our heads and it stuck with me, there is no I in team mentality. We see where the breakdowns are, the players that are slacking need to get with the LA program or get on. I think we had to hit rock bottom a few times, and maybe a bit more, but once u go all the way down, there is no way to go but up. Ill be waiting for them to rise again, and it will. Anyway good night all, interesting first day on the boards, long time reader of the website but just joined today. I hope our discussion tomorrow of toronto will be on a happier note.

Yes, the coach calls the change, BUT, the players have to execute it. And that nice job of clearing the puck by Aubin - brilliant move. Way to play your position. I believe that was the 4th goal, was it not? the line change and Aubin's mistake ate them alive.
At that point, I was hoping they could pull out at least 3 goals so Aubin would take the loss. No such luck.
