Default Kings To Host Annual Development Camp

The Los Angeles Kings will host their annual Development Camp from July 9-14 at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. The one-week camp will feature 30 players participating in both on-ice and off-ice workouts, with all on-ice workouts open to the public at no charge.

“We’re excited about our kids. We had a real good draft,” said Ron Hextall, the Kings’ first-year Assistant General Manager who also serves as the General Manager of the American Hockey League (AHL), the Kings’ primary affiliate.

“To give them the experience of coming to Los Angeles and to see what we expect from them moving forward as they move closer to potential professional careers is great. This Camp basically shows them our expectations and where they’ve got to get to realistically have a shot at the NHL.”

Among those scheduled to take part in this year's Development Camp are Kings first-round selections Anze Kopitar (1st round, 11th overall, 2005 NHL Entry Draft), Jonathan Bernier (1st round, 11th overall, 2006 NHL Entry Draft), Trevor Lewis (1st round, 17th overall, 2006 NHL Entry Draft) and Brian Boyle (1st round, 26th overall, 2003 NHL Entry Draft); plus recent Kings acquisition Patrick O'Sullivan, who this past season was named the American Hockey League's Rookie of the Year.

Also slated to participate are the following players who each appeared in games for the Kings last season: Petr Kanko, Richard Petiot, Matt Ryan and Konstantin Pushkarev.

"It will be the first opportunity for me and some of the other new people in this organization to see many of these players up close and on the ice," said new Kings Head Coach Marc Crawford. "I am very much looking forward to seeing our prospects. Hopefully all of these guys realize that every opportunity you have on the ice is an opportunity to impress someone and to leave a lasting impression."

Isn't the first day just for the players to check-in? I do not think there are any activities on the first day.

What kind of camera equipment are you allowed to bring? Is my Canon Rebel XT with the basic 18:55 lens okay?

Wondering the same thing, assuming a Canon S50 digital camera won't get me in trouble?
