The Los Angeles Kings have traded Sean Avery and John Seymour to the New York Rangers for forwards Jason Ward, Marc-Andre Cliché and Jan Marek, GM Dean Lombardi announced Monday.
Ward, 27, is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound checking winger, who has 10 points in 46 games with the Rangers this season.
Cliche, who played for Canada's gold medal-winning entry at the World Junior Hockey Tournament was a second-round pick of the Rangers in 2005. Playing for Lewiston of the QMJHL, he has 36 points in 35 games this season.
Marek is a 27 year-old forward who is the leading scorer, with 43 points in 42 games, for Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Russian Super League.
40 years of bullcrap. I don't know about the rest of you. I am one Kings fan that is sick and tired of the Phil Anschutz ownership and would LOVE to have an owner that wants to win the cup. Enough bullcrap Phil. Go back to your stupid soccer/futbol team. Hockey and every single Kings fan hates you. PLEASE SELL OUR TEAM TO SOMEONE WHO CARES AND WANTS TO WIN!!!
I know Avery is a fan favorite and all, but I don't think trading a 3rd/4th line winger with 28 points and a -10 +/- in 55 games (and who occasionally takes really stupid penalties) shows a lack of concern about winning. It seems to me that, with the Conroy and Avery trades, we've rid ourselves of a couple of underachieving players, freed up over $2M in salary space, and padded the reserve list in the process. Look for some of the other overpriced deadweight to be jettisoned before the trading deadline.

Nice first post. This might have been true in the past, but what has PA kept us from doing since DL was hired? We're spending at/near the cap and DL has said no exspenses have been spared for him.

And Rob Blake should be next.............................................
I am not to sad to see Avery go but I do wish AEG would sale the team to somebody that would treat the team as more than a minor investment. The Kings are what got AEG the foothold on the LA market and have now forgotten about them. The Kings are not just capital on your portfolio. We love them and hate you for not loving them too.
Sad to see him go but some how I knew he was gone when he didn't light the lamp. I love the energy he brought when he came to the KIngs but for some reason could not get others to join him in the will to win and I think he lost that spark and nothing the Kings have done lately have shown they care to win My Kings thru thick and thin but damn it is getting mighty thin. Good luck Sean hope you and the Rangers advance deep into the playoffs.
Maybe I am missing something. This is the same Sean Avery who showed total disrespect for his teammates and bascially everyone else. He gets manhandled in the corners by the bigger wingers and defensemen. We needed someone that can help on the Pk and help keep the puck out of the net. We haven't been able to have decent PK since Dave Tippet was an assistant. I think anyone that can come in and help with the PK is more than welcome and it looks like Ward will help in that area.
I don't care if you shoot the puck 75 times on net. If you shoot it right at the goalie it isn't going to go in. I got sick and tired of seeing Avery coming down the ice and shoot the puck right at the goalie.
I say good bye and good riddance. People act like we have won something in the past few years. Yeah we may have been competitive but we were never really contenders to win the whole thing. I am sick of battling for the 8th playoff spot. Wouldn't it be nice to be mentioned in the same breath as having the best record ion the NHL? I say give Lombardi time and he will build a good team. And Crawford is a coach that can take us to the cup.
On Saturday, March 17 when the Los Angeles Kings take on the Columbus Blue Jackets, LA Kings Faith and Family Night feature a special pre-game concert by The Fish artist Jeremy Riddle beginning at 6 p.m. Plus, 95.9 The Fish On-air personalities Lara Scott, Big Wave Dave and more will be in the house!
Are you kidding me. Leave the Jesus out of the game....please. This is some horse hit. Jesus has screwed with this country enough and now he is screwing with hockey too.
I think this is just silly and to try to hide it what this really is behind "and family night." -what a joke. Pure and simple, Anschutz is trying to push his faith on the fans. This is another blunder in a series of stupid mistakes that have been made since AEG took over.
