Also, if you're a bread lover, skip the appetizer and just mow down a pile of their butter-soaked rolls that are best eated with a small plate of their BBQ sauce for dip.

I couldn't agree more!
The tri-tip is awesome. If I'm going for a big meal, I usually get the tri-tip/baby back combo. If not, I go for the tri-tip salad with the blue cheese crumbles. The salad is so simple but damn good!
As far as sides go, the baked beans Kick @$$!

Get the try tip with mashed potatoes. It's the best. If you're more partial to salads then go for the tri tip chopped salad. The garlic rolls that they serve are awesome too.
I gotta say, I am not a big fan of their tri-tip. It's well cooked and all but I like mine with more spices than they use. By the way, my wife loves their BBQ chicken salad.

I have to say, the last few times I've been to Wood Ranch, I've been very disappointed. For the price, the cuts have been small, poorly cooked, and the quality of the meat is less then it should be. I'd much rather go to Taylor's (LA or La Canada locations) or Musso & Franks (Hollywood), spend a few bucks more and have an outstanding piece of beef, cooked to perfection, large portion and an excellent cut. Wood Ranch = overpriced Sizzler minus the all you can eat shrimp.

Wood Ranch is the shiznit. I drive by it every time i go home to Agoura and it pains me every time that i smell it and don't get to eat it. Tri-tip is for sure the way to go. Combo it with some ribs (or chicken if you prefer) and you're going home happy. And i agree with not worrying about an appetizer, stick with the rolls. But if you must, the shredded onions or the tri-tip potato skins are awesome. As for sides, it's all about the potatoes. The beans are good too. Damn, you got me all worked up just thinking about it...
Definitely tri-tip. Also, try the two item combo and get baby back ribs. They fall off the bone! If you are very adventurous, get a 3 item combo, with tri-tip, baby back ribs, and fire roasted chicken...you can try to go for 4 items, but you will get a heart attack.
As far as sides go, mashed potatoes rule, peanut coleslaw is a favorite (not traditional coleslaw i will warn you), sweet mashed potato, mac and cheese (amazing. period.), and...hmm the beans are good too.
I had my birthday get together at Wood Hill Ranch. I can't exactly remember what I got though since it was way back in November. Otherwise, the food was excellent.
