It pisses me off inviting people over for BBQ and cooking up a premium cut of beef and they want it cooked "well done"(almost burnt) A nice way to ruin and nice steak. Also many women are not big meat eaters so I wanted to come up with a way to enjoy cooking on the BBQ but still cooking what people want and not ruining a good cut of meat.
This is a meat alternative that is real FUN to grill;
Marinade;
6 oz olive oil
3 1/2 oz balsamic vinegar
1 tsp Garlic Puree(or garlic powder)
1 tsp Rosemary leaves
1 tsp Thyme
salt and pepper(pinch)
Vegetables;
Eggplant
zuchinni
Red Green and Yellow peppers
Mushrooms (I like portobellos)
tomatoes (I like cherry or stawberry tomatoes)
1/2 inch slice of Havarti cheese
Cut eggpalnt and zuchinni in coins (1/2 to 3/4 inch) Slice mushroms and peppers and tomatoes in cookable portions (cherry tomatoes go on whole as do small muhsooms )
Stir vegetables in mainade for a few minutes and place on the grill. These are really fun to cook.spoon extra marinade over vegies on hot grill .When finished cooking remove to plate. Then place havarti cheese slices directly on the grill ( This shocks the hell out of people) Leave on only cooking one side for 30 to 45 seconds. DONT LET IT MELT Place the cheese, melted side up, over the vegetables.If you serve a full plate this is a complete meal.you can try other veggies ie;assparagus etc... Let me know other veggies that would be good on this. Also use premium balsamic vinegar if possible it tastes better

What's that? You're babbling! You're not making any sense!!
Seriously, though. Good side-dish recipes!
Not to turn this into a "What ticks me off is when..." thread, but it ticks me off when people ask me if I have any A-1 sauce when I put a thick, perfectly cooked, wonderfully seasoned piece of ribeye in front of them. I always say, "I don't have any. But after you taste it, if you still want some, I'll go out and get you a bottle. But I can practically guarantee you won't want any."

I never understood the whole steak sauce phenomenon. If I pay for a steak, I want to taste steak, not sauce.
Care to share some of those "wonderful seasonings?"

Good carne asada is not burnt to a crisp. When I grill it, it comes out medium. Tender, juicy, and easy to pull apart and munch on.
just to add something worthwhile to this thread, roasting yams on the grill is awesome! Wrap in tin foil, rub a little oil on them, let 'em cook, serve them like a baked potato with a little butter, salt and pepper. Yum!

When I cook Carne Asada, I go to a mexican market such as Vallarta. I buy the meat already seasoned and then throw it on the hot grill for about 2-3 minutes each side. Warm some tortillas, make some guacamole and some rice. That is a staple at my house.
