That reminds me of the Grinder Sandwich Shop in Manhattan Beach. I think it was on Manhattan Beach Blvd. near Aviation. Those were the best sandwiches!! Anyone else remember this place?

The Torpedo sub from Guilianos (I know of 3 of them - one in Redondo Beach, one in Torrance and I believe the original one is in Gardena)
YUM.
A delicious combination of Italian mortadella, cotto salame, Buon Gusto Italian salame, Italian capocollo, provolone cheese, peperoncini & crisp lettuce. Served on a fresh 16” torpedo roll.
I've only had it once, but I need to go back and get the Hot Pastrami at this sandwich shop inside of a market somewhere in Santa Monica. I don't remember the name, but I can get there by memory haha.
I suspect you mean BAY CITIES. Excellent choice, my friend.
Except next time you go, order the "GODMOTHER." Fan-tastic!

I need to go back there already. I'll have to check out the godmother next some time, but I think I'm going to have to get the pastrami first.

Has anybody in here tried a horseshoe sandwich? Not the most healthy thing in the world, but it kicks azz. 2 toasted pieces of bread on the bottom, then your choice of meat and fries on top of that. Then the cheese sauce to cover it all up. It originated in Springfield, IL where there is also a place you can get the best chili in the world.
How has no one said Busy Bee in San Pedro? Their sandwiches are scrumtralescent.
As for Pastrami the best one in LA comes from Da Hood....Langers across from MacArthur Park on Alvarado...remnants of when the neighborhood was Jewish.
I don't get how it took 24 posts for someone to say Busy Bees. Although it is a tiny hole-in-the-wall, their sandwiches arouse me in unnatural ways. Especially the aforementioned Belly Buster.

Karma to whomever can finish that.
I have to say Final Score in Newhall on Lyons. The owner, Joe, is a great Italian guy from New York. It is one of the very few places that actually cook their own meats. Everyday he roasts his beef and turkeys and bakes his own hams. He never buys pre-cooked or processed meats. He will also sell you any meat by the the pound at $10/lb. And his Philly CheeseSteak is made with real cheese and he uses chopped fillet mignon instead of sliced roast beef. mmmmmm.
It's a sports bar too with plenty of flatscreens.
