About This Page: This is a discussion on Food and Beer Reviews within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. so i picked up a new fancy bbq a couple weeks ago and just hit up omaha steaks. anybody got any bbq/marinade recipes they feel like sharing?
The better the cut of meat the less I put on it.
Salt and pepper are the only spices I use for the premium cuts. Maybe a pat of butter right before serving...lol. I love butter. I may go bacon wrapped but if cooking for myself, i'm usually too lazy to even go with that. I buy filet mignon and porterhouses almost exclusively with the rare rib-eye to switch things up.
I hate marinades and sauces that cover up the flavor of the beef too much (meaning most) and save them for the lesser cuts.
I made filet's at a friend's party and one ****er still put ketchup on it because he puts ketchup on everything. I wanted to take it from him and give him some carne asada instead.
The only thing bothers me more is people that want their filet well done.
The only time I may use A-1 is when I get a $3.99 steak and eggs plate.
Rare please. Over a very hot flame and just add salt and pepper to mine.
If your talking tri-tip, try the Ironworks rub from Barbecues Galore. I add Cayenne to it. Basically i look around on the net for different homegrown BBQ championships and try their recipes fro rubs. I like rubs as opposed to sauces.

I've got a really good marinade that I'll post later. It's the Renaissance Fair recipe that the Times did.

I once took my granparents to Ruth's Chris, my grandfather orders a filet, orders it well done and then asks for A-1. Needless to say that was the last time I took them to a place like that for dinner. If you're going to order it well and put A-1, we're going to Outback.

Any good cut of beef needs only Kosher Salt and Fresh Ground Pepper. Anything else is a travesty. If you want to use A1, go get urself a salisbury steak TV dinner. Don't be that guy.
My dad uses salt, pepper, maybe a little garlic salt and a little worcestershire sauce when he marinates steaks.
My brother in law is another one of those people that likes steaks cooked well done although I've never seen him cover them in steak sauce or ketchup. Last summer my dad was cooking filets and he wanted me to ask everyone if medium rare was fine for their steaks and he asked for well done and I was so sad for the poor steak that was going to be ruined.
