About This Page: This is a discussion on Food and Beer Reviews within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Saturday night had some great wine and some good food. Probably should have thrown this on the blog but Im busy and behind schedule already.
We picked up a great
A year or so myself and some other LGKers went to 10 different pizza places in one day…we ordered 1 small Pepperoni pizza from each just to see who had the best…we chose the Newport/Costa mesa area and Nicks was the best. We all agreed that it was pizza that had such good ingredients that it was taylor made for Wine. So we picked up one these
We also picked up some desserts from a place my wife heard of. It’s a café that specializes in small treats ran by a Japanese Chef who was classically trained in France. These deserts were amazing…what makes them special is that they aren’t very sweet at all…much more decadent then your typical sugar laden snack.
Just got back from Nick's for lunch. Good antipasto salad, a little too much dressing, but only $5, and I couldn't even finish it. Prices are very reasonable. Took home a calzone for dinner and lunch tomorrow cuz I know I won't eat it all tonight! Yum.
I will say both websites were well done. Simple, clean, and to the point. I'll have to check out Nick's food. Always looking for good Pizza and it's only a few minutes away. Plus I'm always at that home depot next to it.
Oh yeah, I hadn't realized this was the same place, but I've been there a few times as well. Actually once I was there on a saturday afternoon and a couple tables over, some guys were having a pretty thorough hockey conversation. For all I know, it could have been one of you jokers.

It could have been....it was a saturday afternoon when we visited. Anyhow, the Pizza Bianca was very good, next time Im trying the Pizza Futura.

the #2 highest rated place was Haus of Pizza on Harbor and Adams. Where Nicks is a great pizza with Wine and Dates etc etc; Haus of Pizza is the king of the typical Pizza/Beer places-provided you go to the left side of the restaurant. If you visit there you will know exactly what Im talking about but we called the Haus of Pizza "King of the Workingmans Pizza."

Nick's is a great place to eat, especially dinner. We go there at least a couple times a month. House of Pizza has been there forever, and the food never changes. The pizzas are huge and the salads are even bigger.
Another place that we like is Z-Tejas at South Coast Plaza.
I live literally a block away from Nick's and I have to say that they have been inconstant. Sometimes they have good food and other times it has been pretty terrible. I have not been there for over a year because the quality had been declining (and the owner was a jerk to my wife's father when he called him on it).
It sounds like they are making good food again, maybe we will give them another chance.
The best pizza I have ever eaten was in Fullerton. The Angelo and Vinici's (http://www.angelosandvincis.com/) "lasagna pizza" is the best around! Quite an interesting building as well. The first few times you go there you just want to look around. It is an old theater with lots of props around. Check out the pictures.
If your in the LA area (Malibu) check out "Giovanni Ristorante Italiano" on PCH for awesome Italian food and pizza. Its worth the drive!
