Tried a few beers over the weekend.

IPA from Mammoth Brewing Co: IPA's are supposed to be bitter. Somebody needs to relay that to MBC. That was definitely the Coors Light of IPA's.

Lagunitas Censored: Different but tasty. Not as good as their IPA but I would drink it again.

Lost Coast Great White: Ok, I've had this many times before but it is still really good.

Rogue Dead Guy Ale: A light bock? I'm no expert. All I know is that it was really good. My fav of the 4 beers listed here.

So this evening I started out with some Green Flash. However, I can't remember which one it was, and stupidly didn't pay attention/write it down. I should know better.

Had some Victory Hop Devil.

Then on to Duchess de Bourgogne (really liked this one).

Lost Abbey Judgement Day was kind of disappointing. I much prefer Angel's Share.

So finally I just a had a little Duvel to top it off.

Foof - what did you think of the Duvel ?

I was honestly a pube dissapointed after reading nothing but great reviews for it. I was just expecting more, lets put it that way. The carbonation was a bit much, and it wasn't nearly as smooth as most Belgians that I have sampled. It was still a great brew though that I would buy again without hesitation. The little hint of pilsener that it has is pretty cool actually

Although, I would take all 3 Chimays and Russian River's "Damnation" over Duvel in a heartbeat. Same with several of the Unibroue belgians.

Well, the thing about Duvel is that it is so deceptive. It's so smooth and like drinking nothing, you forget how high the alcohol is. It's a good standby, but if you're expecting or in the mood for something that is really going to blow you away, go for something bold instead.

I must also note that I had the short n stubby bottle which had a bottle cap. Perhaps next time I will go with the large bottle with the cork in it. I would imagine that would be a bit fresher, and would be more to drink meaning I could experience more of the aromas and taste as it settles down in temperature.

I finally opened my last bottle of Supplication Ale. This beer is so complex, it is closer to wine then it is beer. It's a brown ale aged for 12 months in oak Pinot Noir barrels with tart cherries added. I had this bottle stored for at least another 18 months after purchase before finally putting it in the fridge.

Nice reddish brown hue, with a wonderful aroma. This is beer meant to be sipped slowly and savored. I wish I had more, but at $10.00 a bottle, it is not in my everyday beer budget.

Doug, you have to try Angel's Share if you haven't already. Although now that I'm thinking of it, this might not be easy to acquire. I always forget that I am lucky enough to get access to pretty rare or limited brews.

Last night I had a Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar. Dee-licious !!! I'm not very big on brown ales, but this one would pair excellent with dessert or just to throw in the mix if you're hopped out on the bitter sided brews.

I haven't sampled much from Rogue, but will be picking up more of their brews pretty soon.

Everything from Rogue is top-notch. They have a ton of different beers and styles so it might take you a while to try them all.

You can likely find an 02 at the Freakin Frog in Las Vegas. But it will cost around $250 if I remember correctly. The place is across the street from UNLV. They have a website: http://www.freakinfrog.com/

I'm a huge fan of the Supplication brews. So many wonderful things went right with it,a true cornicopia of flavor. I had a six pack of Hebrew Genesis ale last night. Not bad really. Its certified kosher, has a mix of different malts, caramel, dark crystal, munich, and wheat and an array of different hops also which lends it a nice blend of flavor. I'd give it 9 out of 10 it truly was great to the palate.

Anyone here ever try the Trappis westvlerteen 12 or 8,they're continually rated top ten on every beer site? I also would like feedback on the Dark Lord Imperial stout if any have tried. I can't see paying that much for one without some type of feedback even at 12 percent alcohol.

i did a beer run at bevmo yesterday and got some recommended beers you guys had mentioned in previous pages (lagunitas sirius and deschutes black butte).

i also got this:

it's from a brewery in SLC that my husband used to go to when he lived there. i served it with a vietnamese curry, it was really tasty and went with the coconut milk and spices well. i think it's a good beer to have with any spicy food in general because it compliments that part of your palate well.

my sister in law had the lagunitas though which she really liked. i have yet to try it but will definitely do so soon.
