FYI to all. Since I have moved up to the Seattle area I have now visited the Red Hook Brewery. For those that don't know in the mid-90's Red Hook was all the rage and was pretty good. They then went the IPO route and very commercial. I think they are now available nationally but can't remember. I fell off them as a result of over exposure about 10 years ago. But now after visiting the brewery I think they have gotten over themselves. The ESB is what they are famous for but I like the Blonde and CopperHook.

Their old original brewery has been gone for some time now. That was a cool place. Little tasting room/den. The ESB was better back then. I used to really like Blackhook, Ballards Bitter, and in the summer - Wheathook. Once they were bought by Budweiser (I think), the quality went down a notch.

I want in on the trip down to stone- I'll be headed down for my buddy's bachelor party in about two months- the goal (I'm planning) is to hit stone, alesmith, coronado/ballast point... we'll probably hit stone twice

Had a few of these last night:

Piraat from Belgium. THAT is one damn fine ale. Awesome flavor, and VERY full bodied. At 10% alcohol, it'll put the wobble in your boot toot-sweet.

It isn't bad and would probably be worth a 6-pack purchase if you found it but I am not a big IPA fan. The thing about Red Hook is they are big on the "Cascade hops" that are hops grown locally in the Cascade Mountains in WA. That's the thing that Red Hook says sets them apart.

I will say it doesn't suck moving to a place that so much loves beer ...

Bought a sixer of these last night at Bevmo, and enjoyed a couple. For an ale, I was shocked to see how thick this brew was. Blocked almost all light from a 100W bulb. Less carbonated than a lot of ales, too. Tough to get a good head. I'll be honest, after the pour I didn't think I was going to enjoy it.

That all changed once it hit my lips. Very nice brew. Smoother than I expected, and held up very well as it warmed a little.

It's from Pizza Port, with a couple of locations in the San Diego area, although I've never been.

I recommend giving this one a shot.

Bridgeport Beertown Brown

Excellent brown, which I am usually not a fan of. Reminded me a lot of Newcastle but had the familiar Bridgeport taste and finish that I love. If I had to choose between this and Newcastle, I would choose this.

Didn't know Bridgeport had brought out a brown. One of my favorite brewers, so I'll have to give it a try.

I gotta tell you...the brewery is fantastic, the beer out of this world, but what's up with the menu at Stone's? I mean you have all these very interesting entree's. My all time favorite is the, Tasty Tamari Tofu Stir-fry .....yummmmy I'll have two!!!

I would like to recommend this summers Alaskan Summer Ale. Very nice and refreshing. (if you like Alaskan Brews).
They did a nice job of blending the malt and hops. Give a 6er a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed
