Just wondering if any of you have tried this new "Better'N Peanut Butter". They sell it at Trader Joe's, and since I don't have one near me, I wanted to know if it was worth the drive for this stuff.
Apparently, Better'n Peanut Butter has just 100 calories and 2.5 grams of fat for 2 tablespoons.
Regular peanut butter has 16 grams of fat and 190 calories.
I'm not a big peanut butter eater, but if I want some on my toast or something, I'd rather have this stuff than the original kind. Anyone have an opinion on it?
My aunt and uncle live in Downey and their closest TJs is something like 7 miles. It doesn't seem that far but if you don't really do any other shopping in the area I guess it is somewhat out of the way. Meanwhile I have 4 Trader Joes in a 7 mile radius of my house. In Long Beach there are two TJs about 2 miles from each other, at Bellflower and Stearns and then PCH and Westminster.
We have a Henry's and they don't carry it. We will have a Trader Joe's soon less than a mile from where I live, as soon as they finish building the shopping center.
Alright I bought the peanut butter yesterday and it's actually pretty darn good. It tastes like a Sees Candy Peanut Butter Lollipop. The stocker at TJs said that they have a very difficult time keeping the PB in stock.
I like almond butter. I haven't had that in years, actually I've only had it once, but for a few days. So yum! almond butter and jelly sandwiches and with a milk even! I found a big can of it while on KP duty at teh county jail... ODR LOL.... Those cops eat good on the county! Steaks and junk! Well, at least back in the day. And those AB&J sandwiches sold for like 2 bucks on the row!
Almond Butter is good, but really expensive. They have it at Henry's Marketplace.
really? thx! now just if I ever found a Henry's, I actually have not even heard of that store...

...Pathetic I'm sure, but I'm just not very aware of many of the stores I haven't stumbled across or specifically searched out. I just don't pay enough attention to that sort of thing. Sort of a "get in, get out" kind of shopper, but then sometimes, I will stare at stuff forever trying to figure what is the best deal per ounce LOL. And I will spend quite a bit of time in research, and comparison between stores, sometimes on different occasions for days, weeks or even months, making sure I'm getting exactly what I want, or the best, and the best deal, when shopping for a "bigger" purchase item.
In a nutshell, I'm weird (not knocking anybody out of their desk-chair with that bit of info, I'm sure ), and not much of an connoisseur when it comes to finer grocery retail. I love fine food and all, and would love to go organic (especially because I believe most of the nationally retailed food they are selling us is poison), but, I just can't always afford that all the time (or I'm just too cheap to overpay for food, by habit, or consistently anyway, not at all on occasion though, because then I can be quite spendy! I like to celebrate life when I get the chance, and am with good people!) because, even though I feel that a good diet, and good food, is incredibly important to good health, even in the sense that food is your medicine, it's easy for me to neglect that area of my life, *I think this is especially so, since I'm single... if I had a mate, I would surely care more to make sure that she was eating well, and enjoy eating the finer foods... plus, we could then be a team, a healthy-eating, shopping, good-food-cooking team xD), because, I'm sort of lazy and unmotivated at this time in that area of my life, sort of beaten down by health issues *sadly ironic that this is EXACTLY why I should be eating better*.
But um yeah, those officers ate good(well) at the County Jail. I'm tellin ya!, I think much of the food was donated, and all the good stuff was either for them, or they just made sure it was for themselves. But they would let us, the ODR(Officer Dining Room) cooks, partake. They treated us pretty dang courteously too. I'm sure they wanted us unbegrudged, for pretty obvious reasons LOL. I never did, or would, spit in their food or anything like that anyway though, because thats just sick, and I'm definitely believing in karma when it comes to things like that. That's one of those things you just don't do to anybody IMO. I have a tough time even watching someone spit in someones food on tv or the movies LOL. I never really understood the motivation either, I mean, they don't even know anyway, and what you don't know doesn't hurt you, as long as it doesn't hurt you anyway . Know what I mean? So what's the point?(you don't have to answer that *speaking to the reader, and not you specifically, StickChick, as I would be surprised that you had even read this far at this point LOL*).
So um, thanks for letting me spill my guts people. Without this forum I would of probably just kept that all to myself (ha,ha,ha), and I apologize about all the bandwidth usage and all that. heh. And with that said, until next time...

Just wait until the next time you are near a TJ's...
BTW there are two TJ's in Manhattan Beach, go figure
I was in TJ's one time with my mom and they ask for your zip code and the checker asked what city that was out of curiousity and if there was one closer to the house. We told him no there wasn't. He said that the way they decide on locations has a lot to do with calls, e-mails, letters from people that say, "We need a Trader Joes in ....". He said that if you really want a Trader Joe's in the area to get your neighbors to e-mail and let them know there's a demand for one in your area. They don't necessarily follow a formula about having their locations a certain mileage distance from each other, it's about the demand of consumers for one.
