They've been around fprever, but I can't recall ever having them... any opinions? Are they worth the price? I'm thinking of firin' up the Que this weekend and pass an Omaha Steaks outlet on the way to/from work every day.
The steaks are flash frozen and defrost in like 15 minutes in water.
I actually had a rib-eye last night. Defrosted it, put salt, pepper, basil, and olive oil. It was really, really good. Very tender and tasty, better than any super market meat.
i buy steaks, burgers and chicken from them reguarly thanks to constant coupons, i swear i receive 1 coupon book a week from them and they have great deals

I get a 50/50 response re Omaha Steaks. Half love em Half hate em.
That said-Best places to get your own steak here in OC are Irvine/Tustin Ranch Markets. Pricey but well worth it. One of the best steaks I ever had was one bought there with salt and pepper and cooked on a 19.95 hibachi. If you are in Huntington Beach go to the Beef Palace.

I think I am going to the beef palace on the way home for filet kabobs.
love the Omaha coupons. great deals. Good quality meat and far better than anything you get at a supermarket
from americas test kitchen filet mignon taste testing, for what it's worth.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Supermarket Filet Mignon $19.99 per pound
Tasters found this USDA Choice steak to have a clean, “beefy-chew” that was “more meaty than mushy”—tasters’ biggest complaint with lesser steaks. “Buttery” flavor won tasters over.
RECOMMENDED
Lobel’s Filet Mignon $65.67 per pound, including shipping
While a few tasters thought this “good-n-beefy” steak “melts in your mouth,” most thought it was a little “too tender.”
Williams-Sonoma Dakota Organic Filets $54.26 per pound, including shipping
Anything but mushy, these “hearty” steaks have a forward beefiness and a texture you can “sink your teeth into.”
NOT RECOMMENDED
Omaha Steaks Private Reserve Filet Mignons $44.00 per pound, including shipping
These frozen steaks cross the point where “tender” meets “mushy.” Flavor is mild, but soft texture trumps any positives. Fork-tender steak? No thanks.
Allen Brothers Choice Filets $53.57 per pound, including shipping
An OK steak texture-wise; downgraded for tasting “like nothing.”
Allen Brothers Prime Filets $65.48 per pound, including shipping
One taster deemed this steak “cafeteria beef.” Most didn’t go that far, merely calling it “livery,” “mineral-y,” and “mealy.”
Dean & Deluca Prime Filet $68.29 per pound, including shipping
Tasters called these steaks “wet” (as in watery) rather than “juicy” (as in moist and beefy). Sponge-like texture didn’t win over any tasters.
Omaha Steaks Filet Mignons $30.85 per pound, including shipping
Dry ice is no friend of filet mignon. These steaks were so mushy one taster compared them to “mashed potatoes.”
Good thread since Steak and Knobber Day is just around the corner.
