my new Char-broil Silver Smoker in the process of burning up the oil inside. notice the charcoal chimney behind it.

LOL look at how great I look!

that is beef rib on the left and a couple of baby backs on the right.

the beef rib has Emerald rub on it, one baby back gets some dry rub and the other is marinated in jamaican jerk. all three get an occasional sprit of apple juice.

can't wait to see how they turn out in a few hours!

OK, I know I am late with this tip, but, score the fat on your tri-tip, don't cut into the meat. Sure seems like you had a great BBQ

I think he must of went into a rib coma, and then forgot to tell us how it was...

Beef ribs are super-delish when they are good quality meaty ones. They suck when you paid for all bone and a little gristle.

Hey Henry,

I've been thinking about getting a smoker for a few years now and your thread has really got me thinking about it again. For a novice, what route would you advise? Charcoal, propane, or an electric smoker? Now remember, I'm a novice.

I would go with an electric one that also uses H20. The one I got is gonna take some time to learn it....

OK, so my next experience is going to be a 7 lbs. Ribeye Roast I found on sale at Vons for half price.

Going to do a peppercorn rub, and mesquite I think.

Thoughts?

Well, I've done some research on the net and I think I'm gonna go with an Old Smokey. It's got great reviews all over the place and it's made in the US of A. I'll have to go look around in person just to make sure it's what I'm looking for but it seems to be the right one.
