Xs used to retail for $9.99 and it was considered a great value at that price point. Just because a wine is cheap, doesn't mean it's bad.
Actually, there are a few wines that come in a box that aren't half bad. Times are a changing.
Sorry but I don't think I'll ever overcome the association I have built between box wine and alcoholics on a budget.
I just can't fathom having a nice dinner party and plopping down a big ass box in the middle of the table and have my woman or my friends help themselves like a pee-wee soccer team at halftime helps themselves to the Gatorade.
Black Box Merlot is pretty good and arguably the best boxed wine. I dont drink it all the time but for 20 bucks its the equivalent of 4 bottles and doesnt go bad. Perfect for the times when you only want 1 glass and dont want to open a $3.99 bottle of wine.

I love, love, love any of the Hess Collection wines. So much better than Hess Select.

The taste has definitely gotten better for cheaper wines, but I still find there is a direct correlation between the price of the wine and the size of my headache the next morning.

yeah... it's actually quite similar to people and their aversion to wine with screw caps.
OP, learn to trust your palate over your ego.

Along those lines, there are plenty of screw top wines that actually drink well. We're no longer in the age of stereotyping every one as Boone's Farm anymore.
