Yes, yes, it goes deeper in. But short and thick, does the trick.
Vienna Beef hot dogs are the best, steamed cooked on a poppy seed bum is the only way to go. It pisses me off that Target cooks them on the rolling grill, it kills the flavor. Taste of Chicago in Burbank does them the right way. The Italian Beef is pretty good there too.

Costco has a great Hot Dog and a drink for a $1.50.
Costco's hot dog are indeed good, they are Hebrew national.
My favorite dogs are also Nathan's and I too, was able to pick up a pack of Nathan's dogs and Buns that had equivalent amounts.
They have a Nathan's at the food court in Victoria Garedns. I often grab a dog and lemonade from HDOS and go eat it in the grassy area by the fountains.
I got converted to Nathans years ago, and they are the only hot dog I will purchase from the store. In fact, every person I've turned on to Nathans has done the same thing.
I had my first Nathan's in a long time (maybe even the first one ever now that I think about it) when we were vacationing back east in July. It was near-inedible -- like eating greasy shoe-leather pressed into a hotdog bun. Yuck. I must've missed something with all the raves in this thread.
Montreal still has my favorite hotdogs (2 all-dressed steamees with a poutine). Pinks was really good when we visited there too.
Portillos in Buena Park.. the chili dogs are great as is the pasta salad.
Yes, Portillos in Buena Park is good. For those of you who want to know where they are located, they are on La Palma avenue in the Buena Park shopping mall parking lot. Portillos is an old Chicago themed resturant. Now for those of you who like Philly Cheesesteaks, across from Portillos is Philly's Best. As the name applies, they are a Philidelphia themed fast food resturant that gets their meats straight from Philly. They have several other locations as well. Another great hot dog and sausage resturant is Jerry's Dogs. Trust me, they are good. With the exception of the cheese, chilli and real bacon in which they will charge extra for, you can have all the condements they have for free. For more information asnd locations go to www.jerrysdogs.com
Now as for Nathan's, I like to grill mine and put on the chilli with shredded cheese on top.
Bought some today on this thread recomendation and they were expensive 4.59 a LB but they were good. Wouldn't say great but certainly better than anything else at the market. though at 4.59 a Lbs I will stick to Ribeye.
OK, everyone go watch "A Hot Dog Program" - it's on PBS (somewhere) right now.
Goddamned right. Every time I watch that show, I want to go to that place in Jersey that deep-frys their dogs. Called a ripper or something. Looks goodamned tasty.
And there is that place in Philly where if you order a large fry, they give you a friggin' tray full of fries. And by tray I mean the plastic thing they usually put our order on.
And mustard and onions and relish only on my dog. Ketchup is for kids! My friggin 5-year-old puts ketchup on his dog. Nasty stuff on anything other than french fries.
