I was watching the Food Network last night when I turned off the tv so that was the first thing that came on this morning. Paula Dean was making some desserts so I left the channel on. I looked at the guide and it said she was making a raspberry trifle, some sort of eclair cake and something else that was listed as "peanut butter cheese fudge". I thought that for sure this had to be peanut butter cream cheese fudge, something like you'd use as cheesecake filling and there wasn't room in the guide for the full description.
So the show gets to where she starts making the fudge. She starts melting half a pound of Velveeta with 2 sticks of butter, then adds a cup of peanut butter to it and mixes it with confectioner's sugar, vanilla, and pecans. Peanut butter and VELVEETA?????
there is something seriously wrong with that bird. way too much butter in all her stuff. now adding Velveeta to peanut butter, someone needs to take her out!

I just saw Cat Cora make a chocolate eggplant cupcake with a peanut butter cream cheese frosting. I'm really debating my need to watch the Food Network anymore.
The thing about the peanut butter cheese fudge is those were ingredients most people like and it just makes you wonder, how did you combine two things that are good by themselves into something that sounds so nasty.
I have personally never tried cheese fudge, but I have heard of it several times before. From what I've been told, you don't taste the cheese, all it provides is consistency and fats, same as if you used shortening/lard/butter. I would imagine that with cheese fudge, especially peanut butter, it would cover up most of the cheese flavor. Not that I'm interested in trying it, but I imagine it is somewhat akin to those that use mayo in their cake recipes.

She shoulda mixed in some coconut in there, and they it would have been perfect in its disgustity.
