Seriously, some of the best Chile Rellenos around as well as
Wow...speaks volumes. So many good mexican places in that area....how are the Margies? If theyre better then Marios thats really high praise.
Well, as you are probably aware, if it is the old guy that is making the margaritas (or the MARIOITAS!!!), then Mario's Margaritas > La Choza. I was at Mario's once, and the old guy wasn't there. That was the only time i was disappointed in the margaritas at Marios.
So, in summation..
if you want to get really trashed on the 'ritas, then Mario's is the place. If you are looking for better food, then La Choza it is.
As I said before, there is just something cleaner tasting at La Choza. Also (again), the little old ladies making the corn tortillas ROCK!!!!! Thick, warm... ah ****, I may have to go there again this week.
The food at Mario's (on Springdale/Edinger) I don't find that great. In fact, I will hazard a guess and say that it is the Marioita's (best Margarita's around) make the food taste better than it actually is.
3 marioita's and I thank the heavens that I live right across the street.

Items I love at Marios....
Chips and Salsa-Thin hot tasty chips with the creeping spicyness of the salsa.
Cheese Enchiladas-Great Sauce. Great Enchiladas.
Tamales- Dont know what Marios does but their tamales are the best Ive had.

Chips and Salsa-Thin hot tasty chips with the creeping spicyness of the salsa. Who doesn't? My wife likes the chips and salsa at Marios. I like the chips at Choza better, but the salsa may be bit better (with the peppery spice) at Marios
Cheese Enchiladas-Great Sauce. Great Enchiladas. Haven't had the Enchiladas in a while. I am more of a Relleno person
Tamales- Dont know what Marios does but their tamales are the best Ive had. Haven't had them there
Try the Chili Verde or the Chicken in some sort of sauce (I forget.. long weekend!!!) at La Choza..

That has always been my thought. The food is good, but it's not the best. The Marioitas do make meal, and Ramon (aka the old guy) is the best.
I'll have to try that place the next time I'm over there reminiscing about the good old days at Side-by-side/Skate Zone...
