Grilled Spam Saimin, Mahi Mahi, Loco Moco, and the BBQ Beef! Hell Yeah!!!
L&L has basically two franchisees in the LA are. One that mainly covers the SF Valley as far west as the one that opened a couple years ago in Glendale (Marketplace) and one that covers the Eastern/Southern areas. Needless to say, they are not going to be as consistant s McDonalds or Subway.
Aside from that....oh damn!! Love their food at several locations I've been to.
There is a place near Montbello/Montery Park that my sis and bro-in-law took me to one time called Shaka (sp?) that kicked L&L's butt any day of he week!
If anyone here knows it, please let me know. In the entrance they have behind glass in their display a brick wall of sorts made of SPAM cans. Their Kalua Pork was insane!!

L&L(Redondo Beach and Budlong)gives me heartburn but I like their Macaroni Salad.
The salt mine is in Gardena so we eat Maui Chicken often and lately at The Local Place.
The Local Place(Western just south of 190th) is a King's Hawaiian Bread restaurant. The spare ribs are delicious but the potato salad is not my favorite. I think the potato is too firm.
Maui Chicken(Redondo Beach between Western and Van Ness)is great. Paradise meal FTW!
Since this topic has risen from the dead again........I will give my vote for Ohana Hawaiian BBQ.....there are three that I know of....one in Anaslime at Lincoln and SCB near the Hometown Buffet, one in Monterey Park at Riggin and Atlantic the south end of Atlantic Square (Is it still called that?) where the old Fatburger used to be and one in Lakewood at Clark and Candlewood N/E corner. Much better than LL and the one in Anaslime serves SPAM Loco Moco........

The in laws live near Shakas. We eat there from time to time. I actually prefer Ohana's over Shakas but its closer to them so when they want some Hawaiian food that's where I go to get it for them......
Maybe I'm getting picky in my old age but I can't eat L&L out here. The mainland franchises may offer better grub than where I'm at, (?) but there's just too many alternatives offering superior grub at reasonable prices in Hawaii to ever settle for L&L. And from your posts sounds like lots of choices in SoCal too. If you're a kid, or broke (or both) it's probably great. Being neither I'll pass, thanks. But hey, if ya like it, more power to ya!
monsta...personally I prefer the Loft in Torrance on Hawthorne Blvd for their Sunday brunch. It is only like 14 bucks, but they have their Hawaiian Fried Chicken and I could eat that all day, plus a Spam Omlette (or however it is spelled)
There is another place off of PCH and Anza that is pretty good as well but I forget their name. They are by the Mongolian BBQ

yeah the loft is alright, but its too much of a "resteraunt" setting than i preffer, plus beach huts macaroni salad is effing amazing.
i used to love the chicken katsu at l&l but i got too many bad batches and have sworn it off for good, sometimes ill rock the mac salad though
