OK I live in Upland and have been going to King Taco since I was a kid, so when I heard that they were opening one up in Ontario, I couldn't wait, but it's been over a year and the sign still says; "King Taco coming soon". Anyone know what the delay is?

I think with the economy being what it is, a lot of businesses, especially restaurants have slowed down their expansion plans.
By my sister in Vegas they've got two buildings side by side that were supposed to be On the Border and Carino's locations. The buildings have been framed, stuccoed, have roofs on etc. They look pretty complete except for cosmetic details like paint, lights and signs, landscaping, and the parking lots to go in and they'd be ready to open. Of course who knows what the inside looks like. My sister says she hasn't seen a construction crew working on either building in at least 4 months, probably closer to 6.
My dad worked for Claim Jumper for 29 years and recently retired. They only opened 2 or 3 locations in 2008 and have none planned to open in 2009. A few years ago they were opening 5 or 6 a year. Construction costs were through the roof and now the economy is going south and its harder for companies to get credit because of the banking problems.
My dad also said that the restaurants that are doing ok right now are your more fast casual places like a Corner Bakery, Qdoba, etc where people still feel like they're getting good value for their money, you don't have to leave a tip etc. Of course that depends on the person because paying almost $10 for a sandwich and drink from Corner Bakery doesn't seem like good value to me.
Also live in Upland and we've been waiting for the King Taco too! There is nothing like King Taco out here, what alternatives have you been choosing? La Victoria on Mountain os Okay, and there is a spot also on mountain called Cotija that has pretty good burritos & tacos.
Meh....I went to the one in the LBC the other day and was not impressed. I grew up with the original at Ford and 3rd in East Los. After they expanded, IMHO the quality went way down......
