My Dutch-Indo grandmother is staying with my parents for a while, and I had a friggin' FEAST after my hockey game tonight. Nasi goreng tempe on top of rice is the freakin BOMB!!! That with some chicken and some krupuk and I was a very happy boy tonight.
She is also going to teach me how to make lempur (I think that is how you spell it) which is sorta like a dumpling of rice around this kick-ass yellow chicken. I swear I will make like a hundred of them and freeze them so I can enjoy them year-round.
If you haven't ever tried Indonesian food, you are definitely missing out.

If you are ever in the Fairfax/Hollywood area, there is a little place called "Singapore's Banana Leaf" located in the Original Farmers Market that is oh so tasty (completely authentic Singapore/Thai/Indo fare). Do yourself a favor and try the Beef Rendang!
Ok, I think I know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow...
ROODY! mmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!! indo food ****ing rocks. i had to go to my grandpa's bday festivities out in simi yesterday. loaded up on nasi kuning, beef rendang, ayam kalasan, tahu telor, gado gado, krupuk, kroquettes, and the sweet and sour veggies that i don't know the name of. then they had that sweet sticky rice for desert. i think they make it with gula java. they were missing the coconut milk to pour on top though. bastages.
btw, i found a kick ass place out in LA you have to try.
Same place. I'm on the look out for new ones. There's one called Satay House out near walnut or something. That's next on my list. I'll let you know if you need to hit it up next time you're in town.

Where/what is this place? I need to try it.
I got to see the holy grail that is my Oma's cookbook. I don't want to be a dick of a grandson, but I want to tell her that I want her to bequeath it to me when the time comes. Although, the pages are all falling out and there is no discernible method to how things are listed... and not to mention that it is all written in Dutch.
Oh, and I miss my almond cookies. They ones you get at the Artesia store suck bad. My dad and I are both depressed.
I can't play ice anymore due to my knee being all messed up. I am playing roller at Coast 2 Coast in Huntington Beach. My dad got me on a team with a couple of his vendors.
