About This Page: This is a discussion on Food and Beer Reviews within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Whatcha eat when you were there, and was it yummy?
i hardly ate anything this weekend! yesterday all i had was a slice of pizza. day before was chicken, salad and this appetizer plate from the german joint. haha..no wonder i became intoxicated so quickly!
I ate at the Rio buffet. For the hype I heard about it... it was OK. Ate a ton of crab legs, but the Mirage buffet was better. But I did get a coupon for a free NY Steak, and it was surprisingly good! They actually cooked it medium like I wanted. The ice cream was tasty as well.
I give it a B+
I will be out again in November for a birthday fiesta for mine and my dad's birthdays. We will be going back to the Mirage.
And as far as alcohol.. one Bud Light the whole weekend. I sure did turn over a new leaf.

Since I was staying with my sister we mostly ate at her place, although I did eat at the BBQ Shak on Rainbow and Warm Springs. Little hole in the wall place in a strip mall by an Albertson's. So likely this review is going to be good for the Vegas locals.
I had the 1/2 rotisserie chicken. It was very good, moist. Came with french fries, corn bread, and 2 sides for $9.
My brother in law had the brisket, which also came with fries, bread, and 2 sides.
My sister had a stuffed baked potato with their pulled pork, cheese, sour cream and chives. The potato was seriously just about a foot in length. It was close to closing when we were there and a few people were sitting around, I'm assuming they were the owners, and the man was asking us if we were enjoying the food. My sister was telling him that she was amazed at the size of the potato. He said they some times get sweet potatos that weigh between 2.5-3 lbs each.
My sister also ordered a hot link for her and my brother in law to share because she wanted to try them (they go to BBQ Shak quite a bit since it's close to their place) and they were both raving about the hot links.
We took home the leg and thigh from my chicken, some of the brisket, the cornbread, some mac and cheese, and about 3/4 of my sister's potato. She was going to make a hash with it for breakfast this morning but I had to get on the road. The desserts look awesome but as my sister says, you're so full by the time you're done eating, they've never had the chance to try them.
We ate at Emeril's Fish Place inside the MGM. I had the surf and turf and the wifey had Baramundi. Finished it off with the waiter recommended Banana creme pie. All were excellent and the service was great. It was soo crowded that we ate at the bar which offered full food service as well. A little pricey for me, $175.00 without drinks (She is allergic and I'm a lightweight) but well worth it.
Looks like I'll be eating a lot of "buck eight" when I go back to work next week. (Ask Motor701 about that one)....
Big huge thanks to gescom... took your suggestion about Casa Fuente. The mojitos were kick ass! I had a few of the tangerine ones.
looked for you ALL weekend, AND was asked some of the girls about you after the game because i promised you a morning headache, but alas...
Thursday night: L'Atelier (imagine that!) - i had the Discovery Menu which was like 9 or 10 courses, highlighted by the quail stuffed with foie gras and the chartreuse soufflé... and a f***all expensive bottle of Pinot that was unreal.
Friday night: Nobu - Yellowtail sashimi with jalepeño, Black Cod in miso, Crab ceviche (WOW!), Rock Shrimp tempura, Salmon Skin handrolls, a cut roll of the Yellowtail, Albacore sashimi, some variant of a Spider Roll and a California roll to cleanse the palate... unfiltered sake and the Asahis put some edge back!
Saturday night: a combination of Witchcraft, random munchies and Nathan's.
Sunday: Brunch at the Wynn Hotel

Man, those things were too good... Although I gotta say, Le Fois Gras on toast with Sauternes was the highlight for me

Went to Nobu Friday night as well. Pretty much spoiled sushi for me from anywhere but there. Tropical fruit and guava sakes that tasted like fresh squeezed juices. The black cod in miso was unreal. The yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño pretty much did me in from the start. I could eat that every meal of every day for the rest of my life.
