Went last night and have to say it was amazingly good. For a place thats not stuffy and not over the top on prices this may be one of my favorite restaurants. Wish they opened up one in OC.
Sad that places like Outback and Lonestar can have so many locations when their stuff is inferior.

Im not a big Northwood's fan (probably because I don't eat steak). Their prices are outrageous though Hip. Some of the stuff on the menu is in the $30-$40 dollar range.
I do like the bread, that's about it.

AZ what are your thoughts on the cabbage salad that is cooked???
Don't care for it. Has a funny taste. I also don't eat the salad w/ranch dressing. I don't touch any kind of white sauce (sour cream, alfredo, mayo, blue cheese, etc).
Do they still throw the penuts across the table when u get there? Also we usually go to the "Boat" in Rosemead next to the Clearman's for the burgers, cheesebread and red cabbage......mmmmm good....
I love the red cabbage salad (the raw one), but most things on the menu are way too rich, and make me feel sick, now. :( I used to love that place as a kid, though... I always used to get a kick out of seeing if I was tall enough to touch the snow on the roof yet... and I always wanted to play the "Love-O-Meter" game. LOL
I have been going to the one in Rosemead for years and still enjoy it. We probably go once or twice a year. I actually think the steaks are better now than they were a few years ago. They also used to frequently under cook them--not so much any more. I agree that the food is a little rich the older you get. I can't even imagine how bad the cheese toast and the cheese butter on the the baked potato are for you. Even so, it's still a guilty pleasure.
I remember a few years ago when they finally succumbed to political correctness (and maybe good taste) and took down most of the nude paintings and switched the waitresses from short skirts to pants. Those barmaid outfits they used to have were a little risqué for a family place.

The Boat is the bomb. I miss that place. Might have to stop by there on my next trip into LA.
