Default Breakfast...

When I was a kid breakfast was my favorite meal of the day. Now that I'm older the meal seems to have lost its luster. I keep eating the same things for breakfast over and over.
For instance, A typical breakfast for me is a bowl of raisin bran with nonfat milk and a double shot of espresso (I can hear the jokes you guys are thinking right now). Or if Litz and I go out to breakfast I get the one with pancakes, eggs (whites only for me) and breakfast sausage with coffee.

HOW F---ING BORING!!!!!

I want to feel the joy of trying something new. But I'm trying to stay healthy. So I'm stuck.

What the f--- is a breakfast loving guy to do?

I'm not a breakfast person when I get up in the morning, never have been. I remember growing up not wanting to eat breakfast for at least a couple of hours after I got up. Not sure why, I actually get sick to my stomach if I were to eat anything more than say a granola bar within a couple of hours of waking up. My doctor has told me it is not an issue, just eat when I'm hungry, so I do. Now, I do love breakfast type food any time of the day. Most places around here serve breakfast until 10:30, so I usually get breakfast around 10 (since i'm up at 5:30, that is like lunch for me). I try to vary it as much as possible, although there are 4-5 main things that I like and it is enough to keep it interesting. My main staples are:
~Breakfast Burrito - Add Chorizo - Double Wrapped (so it stays together) - From my favorite hole in the wall mexican food place
~Eggs, Sausage, Hash Browns & Toast - Tom's Famous Family
~Breakfast Sandwich - no tomato or mayo - Pipe's Cafe
~Cranberry Almond Scone - Starbucks
~Bagel & Cream Cheese - Garden State Bagels (crasin is my fav)

Chilaquiles in the morning will spice it up.

Put tomato sauce and a little bit of onion in a frying pan, cut up some tortillas, fry the torilla strips in the pan until they get a little crispy. Then add in some eggs. Serve and put some sour cream and salsa...yum! I want some now :(

I usually wake up at 11:00 A.M. and I usually have a Cliff bar, banana, multivitamin and my Airborne/water mix. If I had my way though, it would be SPAM, portugeese sausage, eggs and rice.....

On weekdays I'll switch off between:

1) 2 bowls of cereal (South Beach Diet brand--and don't laugh. It's lowest in sugar, high in vitamins and fiber and tastes DAMN good) topped with fresh fruit and non-fat soymilk.

2) Fat-free yogurt with fruit, and either an instant oatmeal or a nutri-grain eggo waffle with smart balance spread

3) Ms. blotto will make me 2 over-easy eggs on crispy hash browns and a piece of ham or smoked turkey. And more fruit, of course.

On the weekends it's ALLL about the bad stuff. Steak and eggs, more eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, pastries, etc. GAWD I love the weekends.

Oh yeah... and I'm with you all on the coffee. 2 or 3 cups usually does the trick.

Quaker instant oatmeal - usually strawberries and cream:
http://www.quakeroatmeal.com/qo_ourP...ites/index.cfm
2 packets + about 3/4 cup of milk on the stove. Stir for a couple minutes and you're ready.

Dieting is boring as it is, apply that to breakfast and I want to hang myself.

I rarely eat at breakfast time but I love breakfast foods...high fat and sodium stuff...mmmmmm.

i don't eat breakfast M-F, on the weekends i'll make it just for hubby and i'll have some then. i also can't eat early... we usually don't have breakfast until 11am or noon.

it's usually one of these:
-macademia nut pancakes
-crêpes with fruit
-pain au chocolat
-eggs (over easy or poached) with hash browns, bacon and sometimes fried toast and beans (he's half scottish).
-french toast with fruit
-applestroop and butter on toast
