I wouldnt say its hands down above my other favorite places but it is pretty damn good and the atmosphere is wonderful. Like I say you cant go wrong with the carnitas and a pitcher of mango margies and then wandering around old town.

My wife used to live next door to that, I've never tried it! She says she only ate there when she was deperate because it was too greasy. Sounds authentic to me.
I have every so often when im up in Oregon, but i personally think its kinda greasy.
Mocha Salsa has a couple different locations. The one i've been to is on Imperial Hwy and Harbor Blvd. There pretty good and its open 24 hours.
They have one burrito called the california burrito that has french fries in it along with carne asada and all the other goodies. Not saying its the best place, but a place to go when its 2am.
Okay, it's been forever, but I brought up El Abajeno in the OC to Culver City commute thread. I know I talked about it in the other Mexican Food thread that is now long dead.
Not quite "fast" food, but it's cafeteria style. Go to the counter, order, they make it, they give it to you, you pay, you sit and eat. Very, very, very good food. Very authentic, very simple... No frills. Lots of locals eat there, but lots of other people have discovered it over the years and keep coming back.

-Brian Regan on laziness and the people who buy peanut butter and jelly in the same jar.

El Abajeno is on Inglewood Blvd. just south/east (toward the Marina Fwy) of Culver Blvd. Hole in the wall on the west side of the street, adjacent to a Mexican market.
Totally agreed here....best shredded carnitas place Ive ever had with kick ass margaritas. I like to get a bit liquored up and hit the Whaley House and then the Old Town village.
Have you tried the margaritas at Fred's across the street? Best margaritas I've ever had.
OTMC is not bad but Fred's kicks it's ass up and down San Diego Ave... they have 3 locations in SD; Pacific Beach, Old Town and Gaslamp.
