I've been to the Oregon's Brew Fest a couple of times, and it's well worth it if you are in the area. Plenty of local brew pubs around Portland as well, plus the local brew pub theaters make movie watching a whole new experience.

I consider myself an expert in beer vacations. I always make sure to get to some micros or brewpubs wherever I go on vacation or business. Use the beer mapping thread as an excellent tool to find them wherever you go.

I have no beer vacation needs because I don't drink much anymore but my friend does so when he visits I'm thinking to take him to Stone Brewery down by me.
I know they have a newish restaurant, do they have daily beer tours or is it appointment only?

Where do you live down here? Tours are first come first serve. I believe they're every day...The restaurant is pretty good but VERY expensive.
Just checked out the menus... doesn't look super expensive. Pretty much on par with other places probably of about the same level. Not cheap by any means, but I don't think it would break the bank.
I'm in downtown so Escondido is a small haul for me or I probably would've visited sooner.
Menu prices aren't shocking at all, average prices i'd say. Similar to Gorden Biersch pricing. Then again, I don't know the quality of their food yet and if it justifies the price.

my beer vacation is the International Street Fair at the City of Orange in August. There I can have beers of the world. I cant wait.

It's been Labor Day Weekend since the 70's, at least. Sometimes it starts on Aug 30 or 31, depending on how the holiday falls. Always a sloppy good time!
And as for Stone, I like the food, but it's a little more "creative" than most typical brewpubs. If you go, try the garlic/cheese/IPA soup. Yum!
We've got a pretty good system for drinking vacations -- AB$ gets to beer-sample & I drive one day, then I get to wine-taste & he drives the next. I seriously believe this is one reason our marriage is happy.

I was on a sales jaunt up there for AT&T some years back, and we did a team building event there. The food was epic, beers excellent, and they even provided a wine tasting there.
Saturday's are brewery and tasting tours. You could do much worse.
