First off... Azgasloth, I thought you were dead (relieved that you aren't)
Second, Very nice selection of beers. I have the beers in bold as well in my fridge as well as a few others.
Double Arrogant
Old Foghorn
Hoegaarden
and the 03' & 05' Vertical Epics
The fridge is kinda low right now.
And as far as the whole snob thing goes, yea, I am a beer snob. I hate Bud/But Light Coors Light, MGD and any yellow piss that mass produced beer companies try to shove down my throat.
Stella is The only "yellow" beer that I will drink.
So if I'm out to lunch/dinner and all they have is the afore mentioned selection of piss, I get iced tea or water.

Same here man. I would be more than happy to take an iced tea, water, or soda over a selection of nothing but ****water beer. No shame whatsoever in doing that.

Heh, makes sense. The same applies for Rolling Rock.
By the way, I've seen some Belgians in green bottles. Do those get skunky as well ?
One of the only Belgians that I know of that comes in a green bottle is Fantome.
Very complex ale. It's never skunky(probably because its bottle conditioned).
If you ever come across a beer by the name of Cantillon,
run.
It's the worst beer ever. Technically, it's a lambic. And it tastes like sour lemons and fish. No joke. I had it a few years back at a belgian tasting and I thew up from it. Wasn't drunk. I just threw up.

I recall seeing several green Belgians over the weekend while I was at Liqourama in Upland. I'll try and take note of them next time and tell you which ones they are.
Anything not in the dark brown bottles can easily get skunky. This is particularly true if it has to travel a great distance, such as from Europe for imports. It's the light and heat that ruin the beer, and the green or clear bottles do nothing to protect it. Also, depending on how long the beer has been sitting around in the light colored bottles, even local stuff can go bad.
Third, when I walk into a bar, restaurant, liquor store, etc the FIRST thing I do is look for a beer that I haven't tried yet. Many times I'm sorry that I ordered it, but I would prefer to taste a new beer if I have the choice.
Agree with a lot of your comments. My selection when I go into a restaurant depends a lot on the restaurant. If it has a wide selection on tap, then I will often go with a new choice. It helps if the person behind the tap really knows beer. Kenny at Hollingshead Deli in Orange, is a good example of a real tap master, he knows his beers.
Now at my usual place in Claremont, Harvards Square, they only have bottled beer, so I usually go with Pilsner Urquell. It's what a pilsner style (or American ) beer is supposed to taste like, and it's great chilled on a hot summer night. But even there, I find I need to break free and see what else lurks in the cooler. I was surprised this past year to see they have an incredible beer in stock. Thanks to an LGK golf game and Arrogant Bastard's giving me a bottle of this brew, or I might have over looked this treasure:
A very fine beer, and among my all time favorites.
But, if I find the selection is limited, hopefully I can find Anchor Steam or in a real pinch Sam Adams.

Lucky Baldwin's in Pasadena has a pretty fine selection of brews on tap, and bottles as well. There selection of the Belgiums is pretty impressive...not monsterous, but way moe than the average pub would ever have. They have quite a few Stones as well. The people that work there for the most part know about the beers they have. They could help direct you to what you might like. I also recommend the Fish n' Chips...pretty tasty

Haven't tried the place, but I have a pretty decent knowledge of beers. But, it's nice when your dealing with some of the craft beers to at least get some idea of what to expect. The point I was trying to get across, was I am more willing to try new things in a place that caters to beer, rather than the typical restaurant.

Oh, that totally came across and I know EXACTLY what you mean. That's the type of place that this is. It's off of the Colorado strip...kinda hidden. Here, check it out a little...
Oh yeah...important thing I forgot. Yes, it's close to Colorado Blvd, but the clubgoers don't normally go there. It's just a casual hangout. I don't know if it matters to you guys, but just in case the location might scare you away, you shouldn't worry too much.
Doug, I think I mentioned to you before that Lucky Baldwin's would be a decent substitute for Hollingshead on a Saturday. It's completely low-key, and you can get some good stuff. I think they even have some Dylan on the jukebox.

...I think we might need a LGK night at Lucky Baldwin's...SOON!

I'm sold, we need to get our Saturday beer meetings started again.
Dylan on the jukebox? It seems to me I like his music.
