Labatt black ice is great for getting hammed. It's 6. something %, tastes nasty at first but once you get over the hump (4 or so) and drink them fast, the rest tastes like water. Only twelve bucks for a 15 pack (that's cheap in Canada) and after one of those and a few fatties, I know not what I speak or do.

I don't know, I guess I've never even drank close to enough beer to be drunk. I prefer shots for that.
The problem I have with that is I burned myself out on hard alcohol when I was younger (18). The thing with beer is it's a much smoother transition from buzzed to drunk. For me, it goes like this:
slightly buzzed/buzzed/hardbuzzed/drunk/hammered
Whereas, with hard stuff, because it's harder to gauge where I'm at, I constantly overshoot and drink too much. For me, it goes like this:
slightly buzzed/drunk/hammered
Plus I've learned to enjoy the taste of beer, as opposed to holding my breath just to slam down a shot or two of some nasty rum.

Well, I agree that beer is better to drink when you're just hanging out w/ friends. But it shouldn't be too hard to figure out how many shots it takes before you are hammered. You just have to make sure you eat enough and drink enough water. One thing I agree with you about shots is it's very easy to get from "slightly buzzed" to "hammered" if you're not watching yourself. It all depends on the plans for the night though.
