Seriously, **** them and their goddamn douchebag prick****s of employees......
So my folks, a few good buds, and myself make it down for the Winterstorm event. The morning is absolutely incredible ! We get to savor some ancient treasures such as the Oatmeal Stout, Sawyer's Triple, smoked Porter w/vanilla beans, and various archived anniversary and vertical ales. Not to mention, I got to see A-fro and her hubby which was awesome !
So the whole afternoon is turning into true form. Lots of amazing food at the outdoor table, and tons of bottles of stuff that we know wont be around for much longer. So, we conclude the afternoon and decide to hit the gift shop on the way out...........
My buddy Steve and I are both of age (mind you, we never even got carded once the whole day) and we each purchased a growler at the register to take home. Both of us wanted to bring home a 1 litre of the Imperial Russian Stout (just like we did last time without any hassle) !
So, we walk over to the designated tap area where we would be getting our respective growlers filled. Right as we walk up, Steve's girlfriend comes from behind to tell him something that is totally irrelevant/unrelated/not important/ not beer related whatsoever. All of a sudden, they ask for her ID !!! We explain that she is a DD, just browsing the gift shop, etc....... She had no intention at all to consume any type of alcoholic beverage, or to get Steve to buy her anything. It was really that innocent ! So get this...........
Steve gets shut down. And I must admit, that was ****ing bull****. But guess what else? Because I was next to him in line, I am automatically painted in the corner of supplying to a minor ! We were told to take our growlers back to the cashier and to get a refund. They didn't want to hear our story. They didn't want to give a goddamn **** ! It didn't mean a ****ing thing to them that we had each pumped out at least 100 each today and wanted to take home some liquid glory from what was once our favorite brewery. Oh wait, there is more !
Here is where it gets good.......
My dad sees this whole charade of bull**** go down, and decides to buy two growlers of his own since Stone wants to be a bunch of ****ing analmonkeys.
Better grap a napkin here..........
They SHUT HIM DOWN TOO !!!!
Goddamn ! Where in the hell do they get off doing this goddamn ****? It is ****ing irritating and unfair. Luckily I discovered Old Rasputin over the weekend, and will be purchasing large amounts of the SN bigfoot this January. **** Stone, seriously.......... I hope nobody else experienced anything like this.
Last but not least, this here highlights the hypocrisy of their ways - and this is taken directly off of their website:
"Imagine getting your growler filled with some deep cellar archives while listening to selections deep from the record bin! No cover. Must be 21 or over to purchase beer,
but all ages are encouraged to rock out."
What the **** is up with that?

dude, what's a minor aged person doing at a BEER TASTING event?
This is an all ages establishment. No different than Chili's or Applebees having a giftshop. Did you ever see a minor getting busted at the Hard Rock for buying a tee shirt next to somebody that was drinking a beer ?
The Stone restaurant/giftshop is open to all ages.
well, they have their limits, I guess? wasn't there a sign or two saying that the establishment has a right to refuse service to anyone?
sorry it had to happen to you.
I think anywhere has the right to refuse service, but for what? A guy without a tee shrit on I could understand, or a very rude customer. What would happen if a 40 year old man was buying a growler and his 15 year old son was 10 feet away waiting so they can go home. Do they refuse service to him? I suppose they could, but I would just call that plain ignorance and first class douchebag.

And on top of that, she's your D.D. and they are giving you a hard time and treating you like crap. Un-F-ing-Believable!
BTW, I would call and complain to the highest manager possible. That's crap.

well, it's one thing having a underaged DD tag along, but it sure is a touchy issue.
I believe that there is one thing called liability, which Stone Brewing might want to avoid should anything happen to the said minor off the premise, that all things would point to the company.
not that I'm defending Stone Brewing, I just hope that you can see the light in that matter.

I suppose so, but I guess what really irritates me is how the girl handled the situation. She was rude in how she handled this, and to deny my dad from purchasing a couple of growlers was completely unnecessary. To my understanding, a legal guardian can purchase alcohol for his/herself if their child is present. This girl was just out to screw us, and from what we had noticed (not just me) she was rude to other customers as well. If my buddy's girlfriend was in line with us at the counter, I could understand them having a fit about that. But after we had both been legally sold our growlers, I would say that is a low blow. Just because somebody comes by an d says something to you, you're automatically providing for a minor. Total BS. Id hate to strike up a convo with somebody underage there that is a complete stranger, and automatically be targeted as part of his/her party. I really think this is something that needs to be worked on and managed in a more professional way.
I think there is a big difference when you have several guys in their early 20s together buying booze, when only of them has an ID - in comparison to a mother/father/legal guardian picking up alcohol while their child is nearby.
Hate to say it but I was just at Stone yesterday and went into the store. There is a sign posted above the bottled beer section that specifically states that Stone will not sell to someone with underage companions. It is a liability thing and they have a sign explaining that. Sounds like they weren't nice to you but were completely following their own rules.
BTW- went for the Winter Storm tasting yesterday from 11-3 and tasting damn near everything they had. Brilliant day and we practically had the place to ourselves.
