Was the go to cookbook for Mom complete with water and grease stains. I also want to pick up the 1975 version of Joy of Cooking as well, not really a book Mom used, but I have read its much better than the current and 1997 versions.

I was not a big sunflower seed guy but picked up a bag before going out on a fishing trip. I grabbed one almost at random- Bigs Dill Pickle Flavored sunflower seeds and have to say these things are awesome. The seeds are all super big and they dont skimp on the coating. I have since tried 2 other flavors...Bacon and Franks Red Hot Sauce. So far Dill Pickle and Bacon have been the best. Have yet to try the Ranch. I tried some other brands but they sucked in that the seeds were irregular in size and misshaped and there was hardly any coating at all. Check out the website and give them a try!

It was pretty cool, especially the free beer tasting. My favorite was the Smoked Porter. I bought a 2 liter growler of the stuff. I also tried the bistro. They had a Meatless Monday promo going on, which I know some people aren't in to but I don't mind the occasional vegetarian meal. Then I found out later after I had ordered that you could get the regular menu as well as the meatless one so I was pretty pissed & was about to tell them to cancel my order. But I looked at the menu & there wasn't anything better than what I had ordered, which was the Tempeh Shepherd's Pie. It was a lot better than I thought it would be, pretty good actually. Overall though, the menu is way overpriced & kind of froo-froo, so I probably won't go back, except for maybe appetizers at the bar. But I will be going back for the tour & to refill my growler.

I see "food saver" brand everywhere, but from the reviews, it looks like they suck (or lack suck).

Id prefer not to spend over $150 but if I can find something that is reliable and has readily available bags/roll plastic, for slightly over $150, I'd buy it.

Thanks!

Anyone know a good place to get Porchetta here in LA? Seems like it's tough to find, some places used to have it on their menu but don't anymore. Others serve it as a specialty item once a week. Only place I found that seems to have it on a regular basis is Mozza 2 Go, but haven't had the chance to try it there.
