Pretty disappointing event. First hour is all kinds of fluff with 2 fights and maybe 2 minutes of actual fighting. The MMA glossary bit with Frank Shamrock was a good idea, but poorly executed. For such a big event on such a big stage, it was pretty disappointing that Carano didn't put much effort into training camp. I'm glad she had to give part of her purse to her opponent.

The Lawler/Smith match got entertaining, but have to agree with Smith that he should have been given the full 5 minute recovery period before being declared unable to continue. Also curious why Lawler stopped with the body kicks after the first minute or so of the second round. He was tearing up Smith with those.

Kimbo/Thompson was better than I expected, but I was expecting Kimbo to knock out a tomato can, so that's really not saying much. Talk about protecting your meal ticket. It was an early stoppage. Thompson was hurt, but he was hurt almost as bad in the second round and he managed to turn that around when it got to the ground. Kimbo didn't eat a lot of major punishment during those 2+ minutes at the end of the second round, but he did get plenty of elbows and little punches that went completely undefended. The ref kept the fight going for Kimbo, and I thought he could have given Thompson the benefit of the doubt before he stopped the fight, especially considering that Thompson was still on his feet.

At least the last three matches were fairly entertaining, but it's pretty disappointing that the first nationally televised MMA event ended with the last two matches being booed for early stoppages. And while the main event was somewhat entertaining, I agree with SmytheKing that that fight was a joke. For it to be the headliner of any MMA card is embarrassing.
