buy a Panasonic 1080p plasma. check out the TH-42PZ80U. i've yet to see an lcd that can match that set's black levels. stay away from vizio imo. you get what you pay for. put a vizio and panny side by side and you'll know why the panasonic blows ANY vizio out of the water. i will say this, though. regardless of what anyone says here (including me!), use your own eyes to judge picture quality. you're the one that has to watch the tv after all.
