bah, i don't need to link to THE story; it could have been ANY OF THE STORIES.

They all play out the exact same way:

Cops show up. Cops escalate the situation through incompetence. Cops wrongly fear for their lives: let it be a black guy with a cellphone, a retarded man who wrassled the nightstick away from officer pansy, or some poor kid who was just trying to get away from the mayhem. BLAM BLAM BLAM. Cops shoot and kill the person and justify their cowardice with "he punched me in the face," "he went after my gun," "i was afraid for my life," "he ruined the hem of my dress." Then the cop apologists who don't mind that people are being MURDERED regularly by police incompetence chime in by spouting: "you weren't there," "you try eating a dozen donuts and not lose a fight with a tazer gun and baton," "i love a man in uniform." Then it goes to trial, and the same idiots who want a broom handle or night stick up their ass let these murderers off because police procedures and policies are setup to BRUTALIZE the victims, and not to protect the citizenry.

I have NEVER said being a police officer is the same as any other job. You are the one who advocated re-reading my posts, and when you do, you'll find I claim that police officers don't have the leeway, like a Garbage man, or secretary, to have an off day at work. They don't get the privilege of being wrong, regardless of how many episodes of CHiPs they saw as a kid.

Too many of you people seem to forget: it is a LIFE and DEATH situation, for all parties involved!!! The badge they wear isn't a license to kill; it's barely a license to drive above the speed limit.

They should poll the cops to see if they think they can subdue a 120lb 40+ year old retarded man with a tazer gun, two on one advantage, and nightsticks or if they *might* have to shoot the perp. Anyone who chooses the latter should be summarily fired, but given a box of Kotex for compensation. I'm not heartless.

It doesn't matter though. As long as these victims of police brutality continue to reside in *that* community and not *our* own, we aren't forced to empathize. It's *OUR* apathy that makes it easy for us to define the worst case scenario, somebody dying, as a success.
