This was buried near the bottom of Scott Burnside's chat wrap
ESPN: Chat with Scott Burnside - SportsNation (ESPN Insider) from Wednesday, but it shows that at least some people not populating this message board think the Kings might have a shot at making a big jump next year.
Quote:
John (Nashville, TN): Do you see a time like Philly (worst to first) for next year?
Scott Burnside: Well. You think about the Flyers and all the changes the lineup went through in the offseason. A couple of teams come to mind. I think the Kings have a handful of dynamite NHL players. They're learning the game. With the right coaching, maybe they make the jump. Other than that, I'm not sure I see that potential in the other bottom teams. Every year, we wonder when the Panthers will capitalize on their potential.

Also interesting is what he said in response to someone from L.A. asking about Ray Emery's future:
Quote:
craig, los angeles: what's going to happen with ray emery in ottawa? do you think he'll be traded on draft day or will it have to wait until the pre-season?
Scott Burnside: Well, I'm wondering if he might look good in a Kings jersey. I'm not sure how Kings fans would think about that. One of two things will happen - he'll be traded to a team or bought out of his contract, at which point some NHL team will likely give him a shot. You have to balance what he went through this year and the distraction he became with the fact that he is still young and led his team to the Cup finals last year. A team has to decide if they want to take the risk that he won't self destruct and he's worth the risk.

It's obvious Burnside's never been on LGK if he's not sure what Kings fans would think about putting Emery between the pipes in L.A.
