So where we disagree here is whether or not flag-burners are a-holes. You think they're not, I think they are, and neither will convince the other otherwise.
The point of my argument was that just because you have the right to free speech, doesn't mean you're not an a-hole when you exercise it.
I can go around flipping off everyone to express myself or slinging swearwords at everyone who passes by. Doing so, while protected by the First Ammendment, makes me an a-hole.
I hope that was simple enough for you.
I'm not saying, by any means, nor did I insinuate that anyone who disagrees with me on anything is an a-hole. I simply stated that flag-burning is an idiotic thing to do. That's one act. If you can't make the distinction between one act, and every action I disagree with, you're hopeless.
If you don't see the irony and idiocy of burning a symbol of your free speech to protest something, then I'm not going to bother trying to explain it again. You will just go through life without that knowledge.
As for flag-burners not necessarily being a-holes by character, and to continue with the Batman theme, I will offer this:
It's not who I am inside, but what I do that defines me.
Yeah... I can't wait for that movie. |
