When I was going to Hamasaku two and three years ago it was the absolute BEST sushi - bar none - in Los Angeles, and I'm Japanese, and my mom cuts sashimi, and yes, that makes me a professional critic.

But it's a couple of years later and with the fame that place has gotten, there is a likelihood that they've slacked a bit with their quality. They're making hand over fist in profits so it makes sense.

Haven't had too much of the sushi on Sawtelle, mostly curry and ramen and other stuff. I'll try Hiko next time I'm out there, and hopefully it won't be as mediocre as all the other places friends have recommended over the years.
