i don't know... a point per game isn't exactly elevating his game. especially when you're considered among the best players in the game and regarded as the best centerman in the game to boot.
i think a Joe Thornton led team must be LED by Joe Thornton beyond the 2nd round... people have shat on Marty Turco for less.
